Boons and Killers

Unpopular opinion as a survivor main but Shattered Hope should be basekit for Killers.

I do not think this would be a good idea. A cooldown on the Boon perk would be more appropriate.

And let us be fair: Most Boons do not even see play. The only one bothering us is Cycle of Healing. Or when was the last time that you saw a "Boon: Dark Theory"?

Personally I would buff and nerf Boons at the same time: Give them a cooldown but change the radius of certain Boons. Shadowstep and Cycle can stay, Exponential and Dark Theory should get an increase.

How would you do hex perks that spawn partway into the match like plaything or NOED?

Shattered Hope basekit would honestly be the simplest solution to fixing boons, and I don't know why they didn't do it like this in the first place.

    1. Totems remain a finite resource that need to be managed.
    2. Blessing and Cleansing become synonymous, so there's no discrepancy between times or points awarded.
    3. No longer causes any conflicts with Hexes, because if you could bless it you could cleanse it.
    4. Killer is already disadvantaged by needing to find and kick the totem.
    5. Nobody enjoys the constant back and fourth of repeatedly blessing and snuffing boons.

It would need to come with a few buffs to boons in general though, particularly:

    1. No global sound cue for the killer when a totem is blessed. This gives survivors a chance to use the boon before the killer discovers it.
    2. Smaller audible radius so boons aren't so easy to find.
    3. Some boons would need buffs, particularly everything but Circle of Healing.

It's not too late to scrap the terrible design that is boon perks.

I think Shattered Hope shouldn't be base kit as is.

A partial version would be better in my opinion, because otherwise boons would be one and done, which is a bit of a harsh counter for it to be base kit.

(Before you come at me about hex perks, I also think hex perks are for the most part much too fragile for their effects, and that they should be buffed or possible to ignite back once they've been cleansed. 10 seconds and hex again, albeit without any token it accumulated before being cleansed)

I think basekit Shattered Hope should be first snuff -> one skull falls off the totem and halves the range of any boon that would be placed on it again, second snuff -> totem is broken, can't place boons there anymore.

To make Shattered Hope worth bringing, I'd make it show the killer the auras of all dull totems locations, and be able to break dull totems as well on a cooldown of 60s. That would hard counter boons in a more efficient way and give a bloodpoint score in deviousness of like, 500 by totem.

That way the basekit is not too harsh but the actual perk would be worth something.
