Using perks you don't like to face.
I was wonding if anyone else refuses to use perks that they don't like facing? For me it's eruption I don't run it because I hate getting hit with the incapacitated effect as a survivor so I don't put other players though that.
So does anyone not use a perk or even combo from either side?

I don't run Eruption for the same reason.
I didn't run Dead Hard for about 6 months before 6.1.0.

I do not do that with perks but I do it with characters.
I love playing Legion but he's such a thoroughly miserable experience to play against that I don't play him anymore. Same with Pinhead.

Yeah, I am not really running Slowdowns as Killer. I dont need them, but I also would not feel right when I complain about mass-stacking of Slowdowns and do it myself. I also dont run Perks I highly dislike, so I dont run Eruption.
As Killer, I dont have any problem with any Survivor Perk. The strong ones I dont use is just because of personal taste, e.g. not running DH, because again, I think I dont need it. Or not running CoH, because I feel that the Perk is too much of a timewaster.

Dead Hard, but that was before they reworked it. I still don't run it, but that's mostly because I dislike crutching on exhaustion perks.

DMS and Pain Resonance. I've hated facing that combo as survivor separate it's sorta meh but I still hate those perks I refuse to run no matter what plus by the time you use it once every survivor knows get off the gen and wait.

Personally no, I use perks I find fun or I think will help me win. I used to run off meta or weaker perks and played nice in matches but after a while I realized all I got for being nice as a killer was tea bags at the exit gates and "gg ez baby killer" After all that I decided if survivors aren't going to play nice then I'm not either. So I run what ever I believe will help me win and try my best in every match to get as many kills as possible. This community doesn't care if opposite side is having fun so why should I?

It weird that I feel more killer should be like Pinhead, but only if Solo have enough info and tunneling/camping removed.
Reasonable long chase that not hurting Gens with build-in slowdown & requires team work is what the game should be.

No Eruption and no excaution perks on surv.
When you're used to it, you don't really need sprint perks anyway. Windows alone can be way more beneficial, imo.

Eruption, Pain Res, Call of Brine, NOED, Blood Warden. Camping.
I'd rather be beaten than win by using cheap tactics. If the survivors I face are good enough to power the gates with all of them alive, I've clearly been outplayed, and don't want the MMR from any kills.
As survivor: Dead Hard, BNP, Styptic.

Not for that reason but i do like using less popular perks and try to make them work and seeing how most of the perks people dislike are also concidert good it kinda happens regardless

Yes I refuse to run builds I hate to play against and that includes specific perks like Eruption.
Hand on heart I can honestly say I have run Eruption literally once and that was to get my Nemesis adept and I got that on my first attempt so never had to use the perk again.
I don't mind NOED so much as survivor as it usually is used by less skilled killers anyway but it is another perk I refuse to run as I feel it is tacky and rewards failure.

I didn't run Dead Hard prior to its rework and i still refuse to run NOED

Depends on the perk tbh.
I hate COH but I'll use it because I know that without it my solo experience is absolutely ruined- I'd rather someone run to my COH to heal up in shorter time than self care in a corner for over a minute. They'll be wasting time healing anyway, so the least I can do is make it more efficient.
Dead Hard, however, I still dislike (though I fear that's because of years of old DH and has nothing to do with new DH) so don't use it. It doesn't give me an active team wide benefit that'll make solo queue more tolerable so there's no reason for me to stick it on.
Similarly, I hate Eruption with a burning passion, but I feel like it's either run COB/Eruption or COB/Deadlock/Overcharge/Corrupt on some killers, and somehow I hate Eruption less than the quad stacked slowdown, so I swallow my pride and use the perk on killers that I feel I have to.
NOED, however, I refuse to use on principle. You won't catch me dead using that perk.

Yeah I don't run strong/stacked slowdowns and I don't use DH and COH

I used to not run Eruption, but since I dont play top tier killers, its the only way I can fully compete against groups of coordinated survivors using everything to their advantage.
...Although I dont have a problem with that perk as survivor as I just go for the save to nullify the effect it has on the match.
I will say that for years I never used Dead Hard, BL, SB, Boil Over, and other abusable perks as the victories felt very hollow when their balance was in their original state.

I used to run a thana/playthings/pentimento build on plague and stopped because I know it’s boring to go against. I then switched to a 3 gen call of brine build and I haven’t touched her in a while because I know it just drags the match out.
I used to run an eruption/brutal strength build on wraith but again haven’t played him in a while and probably won’t until it (hopefully) gets nerfed.
I tried out a nowhere to hide/overcharge build on doctor but hadn’t realised how powerful it was until during the game the survivors were unable to complete either gen in the main hallway on rpd because I kept kicking them to get NTH value. I even apologised to them afterwards in egc but they were super good sports and even said I was a fun doctor.
I know a lot of people don’t care about the other side’s fun but idk I’d rather lose a game and walk away knowing everyone had fun than sweat out a 4k and make everyone miserable? Especially during an event. I’m not interested in boosting my mmr or doing a x streak I just wanna learn the killers’ powers and learn mindgames and strats. I think a lot of people make their fun dependent on escapes/kills, use certain tactics to get to higher mmr, and then get upset when they go up against harder opponents and seem to take it personally when those opponents actually try. But that’s completely irrelevant to your original post and I’m just rambling now 😅

Also my rule of thumb is 1-2 gen slowdowns. I don’t want a 20 year game and I don’t want to rely on 7 minute gens to get kills.

I don't run dead hard for this reason, didn't before the change and still don't. 3 health states will always be dumb to me.
I don't run Eruption usually but that's more because I don't like gen kick builds in general rather than cuz I hate facing it.

I seldom run Eruption, because it tends to be a 'win more' perk. It can turn a winning game into a crushing victory, but it can also be essentially a wasted slot.
I prefer to run stuff that's consistent.
Call me a snowflake, but I also have an aversion to playing 'overplayed' characters and builds.

It'd have to be really bad to qualify for that, but I basically do it with camping and tunnelling. I just don't employ either of those tactics.
Though come to think of it, I do indeed not use BNPs for this reason, ever. They're a really stupid element in the game and should very obviously be deleted.

The combination of Plaything and Pentimento. Absolutely dislike them both on either side. By themselves, they're fine, but together? No, thank you ✌️

Yeah this is the same for me. And as survivor I won’t teabag, wait at exit gates, or bodyblock with bt (unless my team depends on it) because I know how frustrating it can be.

I'm the same with camping and tunneling untell we hit 2 gens and 4 survivors then all tactics become fair game but camping and tunneling at 5 gens never.

I never run slowdown, boring as ######### to face so I don't run it. I also feel like it gives you wins you otherwise wouldn't get against players that are clearly better than you in chase.
On the other hand, I always run Dead Hard even though I still think it's bullshit and wish it was changed again so it wouldn't be the most used survivor perk again. So that's hypocritical.
It's just so god damn strong and has such big impact when used right. A good Dead Hard can extend an important early game chase and allow gens to fly, make up for a failed 50/50, force a hit near a window or pallet, and completely change the pace of the game.
As for survivor gameplay, I never tbag or wait at gates or anything. I get hit on hook 50 times but get to gates? I'm out. I make sure my teammates get out of course, but I never stay at gates once it's over. Don't care. Go next. That's how I want people to play against me too.

Eh, some killers can work with an unga-bunga chasedown, zero regression build - until you get sent to Eyrie or Badham.

The only thing I can think of that I purposely would not run because I hate facing it is playing as Pinhead. Luckily, I don't like playing as him either so it works just fine. Aside from that, there aren't many choices in the way of load out that bother me all that much.
For me it's more how someone plays and even then, a lot of what I limit myself on is more due to how much it bothers other people rather than how much it bothers me. I won't camp, but facing a camper doesn't bug me too much. I hate tunneling both as a killer and survivor. BMing is just out. No teabagging, hook slaps, etc. The big hypocritical thing I do is playing ninja survivor. As a killer that rotates hooks on everyone, it drives me nuts trying to find that one Jake that is just freaking invisible so I can hook him and allow myself to start sacrificing other survivors. When I play survivor though, I aim to be that ninja because I suck in chases...and I think it's more fun as a survivor anyway.

This. Then those same survivors turn around and complain about a killer that they turned try hard. Lol

Not stacking slowdowns as killer, and not stacking gen perks as survivors, but that's about it. It's more the accumulation than individual perks.
I don't have any perk that I feel honor bound not to take. I think it's a bit silly, especially if it doesn't go both ways. I have a friend who for the longest time swore on his honor that he would never learn to use Dead Hard because of how it felt as killer, yet who would put NOED in all his builds despite complaining about it when facing it...

Nope.
I'll play and use what I want as does everyone else I verse and I dont really care.
There will always be things people dont like and you will never please everyone. Especially in DBD where people will be angry over the smallest of things... but fun and likes are subjective, just because you dont like it dont mean others will.
For example I see legion thrown around alot, some people seem to hate him for some reason and I couldn't care about versing him. I barely see him but it's not a hard match so I know I can have a more chill game. Sure I may have to mend a few times but it's for easier chases as an example.
People can dislike what they want, just dont expect others to play the way you want and dont ruin the game for others If it's not your preference.
But as for the topic, I just dont use high rarity items/addons. I dont see the need to as survivor and too rare for killer so I just chill with the basics

Whenever I get frustrated and do run anything super-powerful as a killer, that's when I run into the rookie teams and I just feel bad.
That, and I don't feel like there's much point in learning something OP, since it's probably going to be nerfed.

I dont run perks I dont like facing either.
