Obligation for altruism
Why is it that some survivors and killers begin working together near the end of the match? This seems to be a reoccurring theme where when only 2 survivors remain and one is downed, the killer either begins searching for the remaining player or camping the downed survivor or what have you. However when the remaining player does not assist the downed survivor (which in no way are they required to), said downed survivor and killer begin working together to locate the remaining survivor.
The real point I suppose is, why do survivors think altruism and heroics are obligated of another no matter the circumstances?
*getting points for and being a calculated mechanic of the game does not make altruism a requirement

I dont think altruism is what youre talkin about here. In general game terms, altruism is ideal and gives you a better chance of survival.
This just sounds like salty people that dont wanna die alone lol

This.
Whenever a killer slugs me for the 4K and camps me or wants me to sell out my teammate, I'm gonna crawl around to somewhere my teammate is NOT, so that it wastes some time and teammate gets a chance at hatch.
That's what I always do whether it's my duo remaining or a solo.
Yet my duo, who is perfectly content getting a chance at hatch and waiting a few minutes when he's the last one standing, and who will do the same crawling away thing for me, will crawl right to the last survivor when it's a solo that doesn't seem to come raise him, essentially selling them out.
This double standard is one of my biggest pet peeves with him.

This isn't applicable to when someone is being slug watched or camped, but is in most other situations; keep in mind.
Because in a team oriented game you're supposed to help your team and more likely than not, by the time the Survivor would've bled out, you'd have been found and on a hook; four minutes is a long time. Leave anyone on the ground for more than a minute and I'm sure they'll stop wanting to win. It's also a good way to give someone immunity for that match if I'm the Killer and gave you a chance to save.
Think of it as you being on your first hook and no one comes to save you despite knowing 1. the Killer doesn't have noed 2. is an M1 Killer 3. everyone is healthy and can take hits and 4. the gates are 99%

You are getting the terms 'altruism' and 'sour grapes' mixed up a bit :)
That said, as a killer - if you snitch on another survivor, unless they've been BM or trolly, or just AFK/hid through the match, you're the one going on the hook and they're the one getting hatch or gate.
