Does DBD not like third party controllers?

So I got a controller for Christmas, a GuliKit KingKong Pro 2. It's a very nice controller that works well with my Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and PC. But DBD (on Steam) is weird about it. The controller works fine in the menus and stuff, but once I get into a match, the controller doesn't work at all. I wonder why that is?

As long as Steam/Big Picture recognizes it there shouldn’t be a problem.
be sure to have the settings in Steam correctly - in the library right click on the game and check the settings there if you have your controller and controller Layout set correctly

Okay, that fixed it. I can use the controller in matches now. It's so good. 😁
