How can I join my friends party so we can play together?
I play DBD. I got my daughter her own Xbox for Xmas. So we are both on Xbox Series S. I also bought her a copy of DBD. So we both have our own copies. We are also on each others friend list.
That being said, we can't seem to be able to join up together as survivors to play. I can play the game solo, she can play solo at the same time, but we cannot join each other fully.
I say fully because we she invites me and I accept, it shows me in her party on my screen. However, on her screen it never shows that I joined. As well as vice versa. Our DBD game settings are exactly the same.
Also, while we are both in the survivor menu, when I try to directly join her without an invite, I can't, because her name is greyed out. Even though in the DBD settings "AUTO DECLINE FRIEND REQUESTS" is set to "Off", and "PARTY PRIVACY" is set to "Friends Only".
How do we fix this so that we can play together?

This turns out to be an unresolved Xbox platform issue.

Do you have the same crossplay option (on or off)?
it can only be changed if you access the settings menu from the main menu and not from a lobby.
otherwise; restart the game/console, maybe change the online status on the platform (eg i have sometimes problems when I am invisible online on Steam)
