Is RPD a balanced map?

I do not believe so, out of 6 games, I have gotten 4/24kills.

you mean 4 out of 24 kills?

I think it’s killer sided. I rarely don’t get a 3-4k on RPD. In fact, for 80-90% of my killer adepts, I brought RPD and got it first try.

Once you know the map, it’s easy.

All I can really say is skill issue, currently have a 43/56 kill rate over 14 games on RPD as killer

Both variations are currently the two most killer sided maps in the game, especially with available slowdown.

3 genning is built into the layouts and spawns, the central area gives control of the halves and survivors don't have an alternative route to get across, many hooks can be camped incredibly effectively and access can often bodyblocked from one side, forcing rescuers to get long detours, most pallets have been severely nerfed and once the few good ones are gone, there are almost no vaulfs and the option is to hold W.

If the killer plays remotely ruthlessly, survivors just get 3 genned and then they die. The end.

The map was trash from a playability standpoint in the original release and they still are after the changes, for opposite reasons. The rework was a failure, as was the original iteration, as far as I'm concerned.

It' not so bad. Really just comes down to gen strategy. Defend the middle gens in early game as killer, you'll probably do well. Get middle gens done early as a survivor, and most of you will probably get out. There are exceptions, but overall it's one of the most balanced newer maps if you understand how to play it.

I like this map as survivor, not as killer. I’m sure this opinion varies a lot by what killer people are playing though. I’ll be glad to see it if I’m on a stealth killer for example.

The more skilled you are as killer, the more kills you will get on RPD, if you play with the right tools

This statement is not true on survivor-sided maps such as Badham, Eyrie, Cowshed, ...

PrettyFaceKate listed why this map is an easy 3+ kills most of the games

I would add that the the coordination of solo players must be the worst over all the available maps (tie with midwich, tbh, for the same reasons)

I hate all the twisty halls and doors on one side of it. Add in "what is a straight line to move in" and I don't really care about balance, it's just really annoying to move through.

All you need to do is patrol the 3 gen and you'll win most games. Outbreak: Breakout was so painful for that very reason simply because 80% to 90% of my solo games my solo queue teammates would do the safer gens first and ensure victory for the Killer. I eventually got the acheivement by bringing Potential Energy, Hyperfocus, and Stakeout with a Commodious and a BNP and Wire Spool just to get a chance to escape.

As soon as the three gen is busted it becomes, in my opinion, a bit survivor sided but if you hold the 3 gen it's definitely Killer sided. If you're playing Nurse it just stays Killer sided since it takes a long time to get anywhere by foot.

Apologies everyone, as it turns out I’m really really bad at doing a simple math equation in my head. I meant 4/24 games, apologies.

It's definitely much better then before, they reduced the size which was a big problem. There are some unsafe pallets and other more safe ones. I think it's not balanced in a way, but it's definitely much more manageable.

Depends which killer you play but generally it's more killer-sided, being an indoor map.

Depends on the killer honestly. It has some very strong pallets, but they're few and far between and if you can get rid of them early on, you should have an easy game.

I never hated RPD. I'm fine with it. I am on the short list of people that didn't think it needed a rework.

That Borge map is ten times worse to me. I despise that map.

I'm surprised to see a lot of people in this post saying the map is killer sided because now is pretty survivor sided.

    • Two good loops in the hall, the one in the reception and the other upstairs, the upstairs one is in fact one of the most broken pallets in the entire game, you can loop it if the killer started to chase you a few seconds before reaching the zone (frequent) and is also a god pallet (mandatory destruction whe it is dropped). Near that pallets are some good zones with good pallets connected.
    • A lot of walls open now, in the old RPD it was possible to zone survivors, now almost impossible, the open walls obviously help a survivor a lot more, the only benefict for a killer is a better navigation around the map.

  • IMO, the original was killer-sided if you were playing a stealth killer.

I hate the new map, too.

I was fine with the old map as long as I wasn't running a 110% speed killer. But for killers like Nemesis, it was fine. At least for me.

Sigh. I miss Hawkins. I would love to play Dredge on Hawkins.

Honestly, I kinda agree, it's not a very good map. Aesthetically it's wonderful, a beautiful homage to Resident Evil. However in a game like DbD, it's not good, there's just too much going on and the gen and hook spread is pretty atrocious.

This might be a me thing, but I always get super lost on RPD playing survivor or killer. I can never find gens or hooks and I find myself going around in circles just trying to get anywhere.

  • Me too.

I mean, I miss Hawkins. Dredge feels clunky to me, but I'll play him if I have a daily. I am firmly on Team Sadako.

I really hope they enable the old map for custom matches.

Although it is slightly killer sided, RPD is one of the most balanced maps in DBD. This is mostly true, because shelter woods and coldwind farm exsist.

    I totally feel you.

I did not have any problem with old RPD, I only disliked it if I played like Huntress or Billy, but this did not change with the Rework, since using the Chainsaw is also clumsy on new RPD and playing Huntress is not that much fun as well (like on most Indoor-Maps).

And as Survivor, I highly dislike the easy 3-Gens which can spawn, mainly when the Main Hall has two Gens.

Also really dislike the Borgo-Map, and I think the majority of players on both sides really hate it. They somehow managed to make a Map which is not only bad gameplay-wise for both sides, but also looks ugly as hell.

I feel seen at all times, regardless if I am killer or survivor there. As a survivor I feel like the map is bland. As a killer I feel like I get stuck on the corner of.... like, everything. The only thing cool about this map are the exit gates.

Lol at people calling this map killer sided when it has atrocious hook spawns, annoying ass window loops survivors can hold W at for a while, and loads of god/safety pallets you can’t do anything about.

Idk, both just feel bad to play on both sides. The gen placement is ridiculous. I'd say West Wing is easily the worst offender for being killer sided. If you're playing Dredge then you might accept you'll be against bad locker RNG most of the time. East Wing on the other hand isn't too bad. I do have gripes about it, but I think it is more balanced between the two. As always, they should have kept OG in rotation to give us more realm diversity.
