A Question For Fellow Killers Who Give Hatch !

HugTheHag
HugTheHag Member Posts: 3,140

Do you decide who gets it throughout the game or is it just the last one alive ?

I tend to be very friendly as killer, some would say the 5th survivor, and I come across plenty of survivors who are either really cute (and I want to give them hatch), goofy (too fun to kill), or very cool/good (and I want to reward them).

Like I'll run into a game and see :

  • A David messing with No Mither and using DH to dab around me more than to dodge hits. Maybe trying for adept, and it's a tough one ! (He actually was)
  • A Cheryl happily crouching whenever I come near because she likes the chase music (fellow Legion main doing a survivor challenge)
  • A Yui actually doing sabo saves and who's the most decent looper of the bunch (congrats to her !)
  • (And then a random survivor who's not particularly noticeable in any way and who DC'd mid-match.)

Strong contenders all around !!

(In that particular game, we ended up just farming challenges and hiding in snowmen after the random DC'd, couldn't bring myself to kill any of them.)

Anyway.

How do y'all choose who to kill and who to spare ? =)

If I felt that I was too powerful in a match, I give Hatch to the last person.

If the Survivors brought me trouble, I do not.

I usually give it to people who played well, people who get screwed over by bad matchmaking / bad teammates or if i just happen to walk near it on my way to hook the last survivor.

depends on the mood, usually it's the last one, I can give the hatch to someone who was not toxic, or if the survivor tried, or vice versa for survivors without experience. Sometimes if I have 10 hooks and the game was decent/easy I let go of two

Usually, it's a decision of exclusion.

    • Did anyone BM? Nobody gets hatch.

    Aside from that:

    • If someone is obviously trying to do an adept, I'll see if I can let them escape on 2 hooks.
    • If someone is obviously the carry of the team, they'll get hatch.
    • If there's an especially fun duo, they'll very occasionally get gate. Especially if they do something creative that makes me laugh.
    • Rare survivors (Quentin, Jeff, Yoichi) will often get hatch.
    • If it's a complete blowout game, but nobody DCs or quits, someone gets hatch.
    • If it's a game with a quitter, but the other three stick it out, it could easily be 3 people getting an out at 2 hooks a piece, depending on where my grade is.

there are so many variables when it comes to this for me. all of them have been already been said above

    80% it's the last survivor

The other 20% it's usually a survivor who I think played really well and deserves it, so if they are the last one of two survivors, I'll go for the other and let them have it

Usually it comes down to who I think was the best survivor, either in terms of skill or etiquette. As in, if a survivor managed to stun and blind me a whole lot I'll probably leave them to last, otherwise if I have a couple survivors hooked/slugged and the third is hiding in a corner for a hatch escape, I'll purposefully hunt them down and let one or both of the slugged survivors go if I can, because their team mate left them to die.

If I dominate/play well and get to 3 kills, I'll usually let the 4th go unless they got my back up during the game with repeated dead hards, bodyblocking or flashlight saves. I very rarely get given the hatch or escape when I play survivor though, must be 1 in 500 that do let me live.

Usually mood and how well they played. A Claudette who did well in chase, helped the team, and at least tried chaining tiles will more likely get it than an ace in the corner. We do also respect the 4% so that works (long as we see it)

Like some of my colleagues, it will depend on how the game goes.

Let's start from the fact that "give the hatch", it means "I managed to put down the last survivor before he found the hatch" or "I closed the hatch, and I managed to find the last survivor before he opens a way out" (the two are actually the same thing, somewhere).

As long as a survivor is not toxic, I do not rule out letting him out through the hatch or the exit door.

I will also have a much easier time letting out one or more survivors with whom I would have had funny, troll interactions, and who will have allowed for a few seconds to install moments of amnesty.

Some examples of situations I have experienced.

    - after starting the game, I see a survivor in the distance; I get closer, I blink (I am main nurse); and when I arrive, I see that he was against the set, and suddenly he can't get out, because my blink miraculously arrived in front of him, in such a way that he is stuck between the set and me 🤣

We looked at each other for a few seconds, I looked him up and down, he crouched down and turned in place, and finally, I moved out of the way, he climbed out while still crouching, I I nodded, and I started the chase 😄

I burst out laughing, and just that little moment allowed him to establish a kind of mutual complicity between him and me; in the end, he was the last survivor, I let him open the door, and he left 😊

    - I start the game, I locate a generator on which 3 survivors were working. I approached them walking (nurse), one of the survivors (Rebecca) dropped the generator, and looked at me without moving. It was so unexpected that I stopped short, we looked at each other, the others also stood up, we all looked at each other for a few seconds, and finally, we closed, because I saw that they didn't want to play too much against a nurse 🤣 It wasn't pity, it's just that the meeting went so funny that I said to myself "Come on, that made me laugh, no worries, we're going to farm calmly."

I will give hatch to last survivor if 1) there was a hook suicide or DC; 2) I stomped the survivor team and they didn’t really have a chance (doesn’t happen often); or 3) last survivor played really well and I give hatch as sign of respect. One thing that overrides all of the above is if the last survivor just hides all game waiting out the hatch. I will definitely try my best to deny them hatch and hook them if they play that way.

I give hatch for less kill rates meaning less nerfs to killers. Somtimes I don't but if survivor give me their item I will always let them go. I give killers my item in same situation it works sometimes 😀

  • Usually the person who ran me the best or the ones who are "too cute" to sacrifice. I don't care about 4King every game so almost always someone is getting hatch or exit gate.

if I can't decide who do give hatch to and there was a dc at some point I usually play extremely laid back and if they don't completely screw themselves they get to leave. I don't like outright farming but i have no issue with letting everyone go once in a while.
