Is "Hatch an Escape" still possible?

I've been slowly going through the compendium trying to do all the challenges because I'm a completionist. In Tome 2 chapter 3, there's a challenge "Hatch an Escape" that requires you to open a hatch with a key and escape. But, from my understanding, the hatch only spawns if there's one survivor left, in which case a key isn't required to open it. Does this make the challenge impossible, or is there something I'm missing?
