When will solos learn how to trade?
The new changes to the HUD are cool and all but soloQ I'm predicting will still be horrible cuz of this. The amount of games I have where either me or someone else is on hook the killer is camping and all that happens is people will go in and spend 30 seconds urban evasioning their way to the hook just to get injured and run away and the person on hook dies and nothing was actually accomplished is unbelievable.
Like going down sucks sure but crouching around hooks is the least useful thing you can do so either go in with the understanding that you're probably going on the hook next and we're going with the strategy of rotating hook states while others do gens or just stay on gens and let the person die but this crouch and do nothing until you get injured nonsense has got to stop.
Sorry this is a bit a vent thread but at the same time I do feel like not nearly enough people have any idea how to deal with camping.

It's something that comes with a game that tends to be aggressively casual. The public match meta is extremely basic and rarely even utilized at that. There's no ranking system, players can't talk to one another, and matchmaking tends to be fairly loose.
Players aren't going to know how to manage that in most cases. Compare the content from a competitive game like Overwatch to DbD. Overwatch has a huge amount of content dedicated to the minutiae of the game in a competitive setting. DbD content creators distill it down to "do gens" or something like that if they even talk about high level stuff at all. And they're sometimes straight up wrong.
The right answer in a camping situation often boils down to the gen progress on the other gens, the hook position, the killer, and some other stuff. There's no way to optimize it in solo queue. Sometimes the 1 for 1 is correct. Other times there's no point. And other times you're throwing by even attempting it. I agree that crouching and doing nothing for 30 seconds is never the right play, but again, it's solo queue in DbD. You're never going to consistently get good smart teammates.

That as well as taking their share of attention to spread out hooks. Most of my survivor games would be less of a stomp if at least one person in the team wasn't super stealthy and unwilling to take aggro, meaning next person killer finds is dead.
