Dead Hard is back and its here to stay, seeing it every game now.
Here I thought we would go through a sprint burst and lithe meta, but it feels like nothing really changed in the end. At least it is less annoying on the weaker side killers lol. Not complaining, but it just is funny that so many people thought dead hard was going to be gone for good. Literally, every single game I have played today has had 3-4 dead hards so I'm wondering why everyone now is suddenly using it.

I never believed those people that were like "You guys are sleeping on how amazing Sprint Burst is!"
I knew they were full of it then, and they are full of it now. I've run into maybe 3 Sprint Bursters in the last month, with only one doing the 99 trick.

That doesn't mean Sprint Burst isn't still a great perk. The only real difference between SB and DH is whether you want to extend the chase at the beginning or the middle.

Sprint burst is still crazy good but since it requires planning and is harder to use nobody uses it.

So a hex that allows for easy tunnelling with little risk?
How about a hex that puts exhaustion on any survivor in chase instead?

IMO. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed, BUT. If something meta for literally 5 years it should be shoved out of the meta, it's what I think about nurse as well. If you look at meta in other games, that's how it works. But in dbd It's a rarity.

The optics changed (with a nerf to some of its interaction with the survivor actually becoming intangible before).
The dash for distance was replaced by Endurance for distance, but this time the Killer can get a hit in.
It’s effectively the same with a higher skill floor and slightly lower ceiling.
Much as it can annoy me though, I do think it’s a perk that provides a lot of agency in when it can be used, and don’t think it should be nerfed just because it’s meta (cough Self-care)
Really the only way to nerf it is to allow the Killer to perform a committed feint of some sort.
Or introduce a Perk category that empowers a Killers chase after a hit for a short duration, which stacks. Meaning that several hits in short succession makes the Killer quite lethal.

TBH, the skill floor doesn't even seem like it went up that much. Same old way of baiting it out, same old situations to use it--it's really just moved the window for using it to greed pallets/vaults a little, not so much eliminated it.
And it still has the same all-consuming distortion on how you have to play every interaction with someone that hasn't shown they don't have it.

No no, it's dead. The forum told me so when it was changed.

If you really struggle vs DH...
You can tunnel off hook as it does not work while in Deep Wound (resets after DS, though)
Run a killer like Legion/Slinger that inflicts Deep Wound
Run anti-exhaustion perks/add-ons
Don't get me wrong, it's still crazy strong, but at least it has a very obvious animation/tell and some stuff in the game that innately counters it, now.

What about a killer perk (so it's never gonna happen 😂) that puts a hit survivor in deep wounds?

No, im just saying I missed when it was "dead" and nobody used it lol. I was just looking forward to the sprint burst/lithe meta, but the meta hasn't really changed that's the part that I'm complaining about.

I just wish the meta shift lasted a bit longer, and nobody really used dead hard because people didn't know how to make it work after its nerf. It's just boring to see it all the time again, and it's similar to seeing eruption or call of brine on a killer for the 50th time game in a row, though at least eruption hasn't been king of the meta for so many years.

It's too strong not to use as survivor. You loop and loop until you just can't reach that pallet..but DH will save you so you don't need to reach the pallet in time.

I would not say it is harder to use. I would say it is more annoying to use. Nothing in DBD is really hard.

The complaints were largely towards the distance part of dead hard which got removed. It still functions as a 3rd health state that at least requires some skill to pull off. It was always going to be a popular perk as long as it could be used as a 3rd health state, survivors just needed time to adapt since every time anything gets nerfed people stop using it for a bit.
Sprint Burst would be used more if Dead Hard was actually gutted in a way some people were hoping it was going to be. Sprint Burst competes against Dead Hard due to being an exhaustion perk. As long as Dead Hard is the stronger of the 2, Dead Hard will be the one used the most.

Fair point. By hard I meant more so you have to actually think about when to use your perk for once tbh
