Probably Knee jerk reaction to perk nerf again?

So as you know we just got updated for survivor HUD where dev trying to buff solo experience to be on par with SWF.

right now, it easier for survivor to see which one are current in chase or getting hook and so on. The question is they mentioned about look into eruption perk.

Do you think they should wait and collect more data after this update when the most argument against this perk is it its hard for solo que rather than knee jerk nerfing perk?

Secondly, with this HUD update, the combo of PR + Deadman switch is veryyy bad where you wont likely get a proc when survivor know when you carry a survivor. Unless that survivor is blind or something. So should they revert dms back to 45 sec?

    you are right but it wont matter.

    survivor just got a huge buff with nothing for killers and barely a day later the devs gleefully announce an imminent nerf to one of the few remaining usable slowdown perks.

    More part of the endless cycle, of trying to achieve any balance.

    The developers have no clue. There are far to many variables in this game to try and get balance.

    Until the studio decides if it's a swf or solo game, it will be a endless cycle of buff,nerf hotfix.

    Pain Res was way to easy to counter even before the HUD update. Just let go from the gen when you see the hook animation starts.

    As for Eruption the HUD update sure helps a bit, esp. when paired with the perk BOND. But SWFs on comms will be always more accurate calling it out when they're actually close to getting downed. As a solo you could waste more time not doing the gen if the chased surv is a good looper.

    They’ve been able to gather data on eruption for half a year now. I wouldn’t call it a knee-jerk at all.

    Eruption is a badly designed perk even in SWF.

    “I’m about to go d—“ *gen explodes* “Nevermind.”

    Virtually the only way to avoid it is to purposely go down so you give people enough notice. It’s not even the fact that there is like 1% counter to it, it’s really the ridiculous 25 seconds of being unable to do anything that is dumb imo.

    Regarding Eruption:

    The new HUD does not help to counter it at all. Unless you say that the counter is to let go of a Gen once a Survivor is injured and while they are being chased (or even when a chase starts in case it is an Instadown-Killer). Because this is not a counter, since potentially you will spend more time doing nothing to avoid the effect which forces you to do nothing. Furthermore, the Survivor in chase can have the best chase of their life or use any ressource available, which will only be bad, because this does not matter if nobody is doing Gens.

    Obviously you can say the counter to Eruption would be to let go of a Gen once a Survivor is chased and that Survivor needs to let themselves downed immediatly. But we all know that this would be super-stupid.

    Also, regarding SWFs and Solos... Hens wrote this on Twitter:

    "It's funny how the best comp teams have trouble playing around eruption with comms and people talk like it's so insanely easy."

    So... Even with the HUD-information, Eruption is problematic and just unhealthy. And clearly not a knee jerk-Reaction, they should have nerfed it months ago or even not let it get past playtesting.


    Regarding Pain Resonance/DMS:

    BHVR already wanted to get rid of this combo, but they brought it back because there was an even worse Combo with Merciless Storm and Pain Resonance (when the Gen hits Merciless Storm and Pain Res hit it, the Merciless Storm-Skill Checks continued). So they wanted to get rid of it anyway.

    Furthermore, it was already counterable before. First of all, you have a split second to let go when you see the Survivor getting hooked. But even if you dont do that, even before you saw that the Survivor was being carried because their Aura disappeared AND their Bleed Out-timer was paused (the latter is even seen when Blindness is in play).

    And from my experience, more than enough Survivors still dont know to let go of a Gen early enough to avoid Dead Mans Switch.

    Word. Had a game yesterday where a killer was tunning pr and dms. I was working a vital gen had it on like 80% saw killer picked up a surv and came off the gen. A feng was working it too, i was crouch spamming, shaking my head beckoning her off the gen. Then it exploded and got blocked. And she just looked at me like "oh"
