Do the Solo Buffs take some of the mystery away?

As a mostly solo player, I have to say the solo buffs are pretty great. I like being able to tell what's happening in the match, up to a point.

However, I do feel like seeing generator progress is maybe too much information. It kind of takes away from the air of mystery of the game and gives me information for free that I needed good game sense for before.

I'm not even necessarily saying that visible generator progress is overpowered, since swfs do get all that for free; I just think the visual indicator turns the game even more into gen rush simulator without the extra bit of uncertainty.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

I love the icons, but I do feel like seeing the exact generator progression might be a little overkill.

I know it's necessary to better balance killer and survivor more easily.

I'm just a little worried about the game becoming more sweaty if survivors become more objective-oriented and make killer buffs needed in turn to preserve killrates. If done poorly, it could lead to a situation where survivors have the potential to be very efficient, so killers are buffed on par with this potential (vs actual average level), to a point where you have to be a very good looper to have any chance at survival, which would make it hell for casuals and beginners.

I played a little last week before the gen progression was showed, and the games already felt much better, with the time to do chests or totems without putting the team in danger, but I'd hate for it to go back to immediate post-6.1 where doing side-objectives = throwing the game.

TBH, I think solo queue status icons was somewhat of a mistake, because now being coordinated as Survivor is easy.

This was one of the things that was somewhat of a concern, Killer now needs Eruption and other broken stuff because the advantages of a SWF are now basekit. Meaning that every game feels like a SWF, and it's easy to ruin the Killer.

I mean.. Most swfs are not that good or coordinated, and I do not believe the icons are giving that much coordination potential to solos. You might know your teammate is on a gen, but you don't know where exactly unless you took aura perks or have impressive game sense.

I don't think it's a mistake, by a long shot, but I'm not 100% on board with the generator progress being shown.

I'm hoping for some time, love and care given to lower tier killers after this, because strong killers will still do okay against most lobbies, but lower tier killers need buffs regardless of how killrates evolve post-HUD.

I'm personally looking forward to some Nemesis and Clown buffs, fingers crossed !

They may have taken some mystery away but they also took a lot of misery away

Gen progression HUD shows exact the % feel too much, like I know my 3 teammates work on the same Gen, or 2 or 3 different Gens. Know when to get correct Adrenaline pop... But yes, this is still not close to the info Swfs have.

Game used to be immersion, full of misery. But nowaday, its all action and efficiency

So there could be an option for killer mains who rarely playing survivor.

What I mean an option when you are playing solo once a month, then you could turn off the survivor buffs regarding free information, then you can play like you have no idead like used to be

I don't think nemesis needs buff as good nemesis can do well agains't any squads. Just watched dead play him a lot and watching him play nemy seems strong enough. Someone like trapper or myers need help first. Even Oni needs more help he is weakest killer in the game at start of match and seen dead/otz really struggle to build up his power agains't good survivors.

Yes, but the mystery stopped being fun for me a long time ago. I'm not playing for the horror experience. Don't get me wrong, the aesthetic is what attracted me to the game, but I play this game as a competitive PVP game, not a horror game. And losing due to lack of info just feels cheap.

I don’t know, I always played with kindred, which for the most part allowed me to figure out what was going on. So for me the hud changes just allow me to take kindred out of my build and not suffer. The hud changes feel more like playing with a 5th perk as opposed to stripping away the “mystery”.

When I'm saying Nemesis, I'm more thinking of his two little helpers. Nemesis himself is doing fine. =)

I disagree with Oni. He's got his power every other minute since hitting someone fills his power halfway already, and his hitbox is very generous. I don't think he needs more than maybe some QoL surrounding the environments hitboxes, like other charging killers.

Myers and Trapper I cannot disagree with though.

The mystery went away after 10 hours of gameplay, followed by any sense of immersion or fear. It wasn't the icons that took those away. It was repeated exposure that did it.

I think it's all pointless tbh.

I'm a solo Q player, the games I win i would od won before and the games i loose i normally would of lost.

The HUD doesnt stop matchmaking screwing me over with people who never touch a gen. All this HUD did was make my easy wins (people all my skill) even easier to the point its boring

All the mystery went away when I played more then a few games.

Also I'm jealous people felt mystery when playing dbd solo. The only feeling I felt was frustration

I feel like there might be an opening for new 'challenge' type perks. If No Mither can allow you to royally mess yourself up for the sake of 'challenge', maybe we can get some other perks that shut down the new UI in exchange for other benefits?

It kinda went from deducting what's happening and what you're teammates are doing to more tactical gameplay. You're being spoonfed all this info, so it requires even less foresight/skill from a survivor.

For beginners, it might be easy, perhaps too easy to play, and for experienced players, it's a bit boring and starting to become less and less thrilling.

I don't see the need for showing a Gen's progress, just the icon is more than enough in my opinion, information should be minimal, not exact.

Maybe it made sense back in 2016 when this game still played like a stealth game, but 7 years later we're way past that. Modern asymm games allow voice chat/ping systems, so I guess it was time for bhvr keep up. Plus, people wanted this game to become balanced and are now complaining when bhvr attempts to balance things out.

Yes, they do. While unarguably helpful for solos, it removes alot of unknowns and unpredictability, which we found both frustrating and enjoyable.
