Self-care vs opening gate priority

PC - Steam,
I was running Dark Sense, Visionary, Self-Care and Inner Focus(perk roulette) as Jill Valentine in the new skin.
I was injured at the exit gate, the action prompt was for opening the gate, but once I pressed the action button my character performed the self-care action rather than the gate opening action.
This caused me to die in the match.
This only happened once, I'm unsure if it can be reproduced.
