I Feel Like Everyone Is Overreacting
Title (accidently hit enter which sent this post, so Im having to edit it).
Everyone is pretty much overreacting over the Eruption nerf.
Dont get me wrong, I hated Eruption, I think it got nerfed a bit too much, but like Ive seen several posts of "they will gut all of the Killer perks and we wont have anything in 2 weeks" or some dumb stuff... calm down... I think BHVR is pretty disconnected from their community but it's not that bad.

I do think people are overreacting but there is genuinely 2 good killer regression perks now. I guess that's how it was with pop and ruin before though.

It'll take more than 2 weeks but the fact that after changing PGTW to current progression and having seen its usage tank, because of weak it is now. To apply that to eruption giving it a double nerf way beyond what was needed based on the complaints and saying it had to do with how it affected solo and SWF differently, which they did nothing to actually change that specific fact, it is completely reasonable to be concerned as to what happens next.
The thing of it is Eruption wasnt even that strong of a perk, it was annoying when you got incapacitated, but outside of a dedicated 3 gen strategy it wasnt even all that effective alot of the time. As a matter of fact it actually offered a potential benefit to take a chase/get a down outside the 3 gen because you could get the incapacited effect to buy you back that time, now most of the 3 gen builds will probably take Jolt which requires staying within your 3 gen even more, creating more complaints and potentially leading to that getting nerfed. The other potential situation for people who ran it and didnt hard 3 gen will be a return to PR/DMS which already got nerfed once, so it wouldnt surprise me to see that get nerfed down either.
Thanatophobia is another good example they decided to buff it, then when it was too strong instead of fixing it in a way that would be decent, they nuked it to the ground. This is showing a pattern of at best questionable balancing decisions that makes players lose faith in the devs decision making process.

For some reason bhvr does not go for nerfs in a reasonable pace. They just go full sledgehammer and perks are usually close to irrelevant after that...

It won't take two weeks but based on bhvr track record on nerfing overused and/or op perks they will at some point over nerf most of the killer best regression perks. Look at all the examples this past year: Ruin, Pop, Thana, and now eruption. Survivor perks are not safe either since the basely had killed some of theirs also (self care, calm sprit, and DS). I say the only perk that is safe from the nerf sledgehammer and that is DH. Since they rework it back in 6.1 it kept its usefulness and still is the num one most used perk for survivors. All we do is follow the pattern BHVR has shown us and they have shown us that instead of balancing perks so they are close in the power over each other they rather take a sledgehammer to the "meta"/overused perks.

I'll keep it short and sweet and I'm with you. Yes everyone is completely over reacting.

The DBD Forum Cycle:
One side has something busted =>
Busted thing gets nerfed way too hard =>
Community freaks out for a week then moves on =>
Goes back to complaining that the side they play is too weak =>
BHVR releases new busted thing to spicy up gameplay =>
Repeat

Or "so and so said something that I agree with"

I just hate that I bought that killer mainly for the perk, before 6.1.0 actually, and then it gets gutted like this. It's an all too common cycle BHVR practices of making something good so I want to buy it, then taking it away the second you use it. I just wish they'd get things right the first time, but that's asking too much

Sounds like a Mettle of Man type of situation.
It's a live service game, anything can change, so I would always recommend never buying characters exclusive for their perks, but buying them only if you actual care for the characters (or are a completionist).

It's another common cycle honestly. Remember the Knight chapter ad everyone malded over Potential Energy and Hubris? I do. Remember Flashbang/Blastmine op pls nerf? I do. Remember the killer changes that were actually needed and people malded? I do. Remember the HuD update and people were salty over the first version (second one was too much info)? I do.
It certainly doesn't help that content creators like to fan the flames then get surprised people take it too far.
Basically what I'm saying is nothing new at all. Same boring tasteless argumenta that people love to spew out just to feel important. Yada yada blah blah blah. I'm honestly waiting for some pressed killer main or chronically online survivor main to say something

I dont really care about Eruption, used it three times since 6.1.0 or so.
I feel like the HUD is a massive, massive Gen-Boost while the Regression-Options are decreasing.
2 -
The reason so many killer mains are annoyed is because Behavior has established a pattern of nerfing the meta killer regression perk to the ground (see Ruin, Pop, Thana, now Eruption) while the meta survivor perks have been lightly touched and mainly stayed viable.

Thata really not true at all though. Survivor perks have seen more nerfs overall than killer perks in DBDs history.

The BHVR Cycle:
Perk gets made popular with a buff that really only happened to make it worth picking.
People become annoyed with said perk as it's seen too frequently
BHVR then comes and smashes the perk into a million pieces then glues the pieces in a completely different perk
BHVR says "you're welcome" as everyone looks confused
People who consider themselves VERY INTELLIGENT say "you're just doomsaying" when people start complaining after this happened for the 4th time this past year.

It was obvious that the perk is extremely overpowered, and wont remain unchanged for long, the smart killer mains didnt rely on a perk like this, knowing that will be gone anyway, if few months.
I can also give a pro tip, dont get too attached to the Blight, once players getting better and better with him, will receive an addon pass nerfing his best addons, so dont abuse his 2 busted addons because will be gone too

Its always the killers getting gutted in every conceivable way, merely because survivors have skill issues, it has nothing to do with the perk itself
the only reason that OP skills like dead hard, prove thyself, kindred, lithe, sprint burst and off the record arent being nerfed is because they are on the survivor side, 80% of the "community" is on the survivor side so more skin are sold there so bhvr caters to that, there are no perks on that power level on the killer side and if through sheer incompetence someone at bhvr adds or modifies one to be that powerful you can rest assured that the skill will be obliterated to far worse than it originally was, it happens time and time again

Hi Scott.
I also think it would be fair to point out that BHVR does listen to Killers, remember the Patch 6.1.0 PTB? Remember how people called out Endurance stacking for being BS? I mean, that got removed as a thing before it came to live servers.
Hell Patch 6.1.0 in of itself shows that BHVR cares to the point of making basekit changes that could possibly kill their game, they took a huge risk, yet everyone ignores that.
If BHVR only cared about Survivors their game would already be dead. People dont look at the greater picture.

They only care about killers when the survivor queues get too long

Realistically speaking, it's quite optimistic to NOT think all reg perks will be destroyed at this point.

Pain Res and Deadlock are both excellent. Corrupt, Call of Brine, No Way Out and Jolt are good. DMS is situational, but can work on some killers.
I don't mind the nerf. I just pray that they nerf Dead Hard in the upcoming midchapter. Make non-lunges counter it.
