This is like an endless cycle under DBD current situation

Recently, I was thinking about a question when we began to treat the tunnel as a normal thing and have been used to facing it.

No one likes tunnels. Even on the killer's side, this is just a boring tactic .

So I have seen many other games of the same type like DBD and concluded a conclusion : the game mode need to add more of it .

Over the years, the only goal of the survivors is to repair the generator and escape. All the balance changes are around this machine. For survivors, if the killer chooses the tunnel, the only things that survivors can do is gen rush .

The problem is : if the survivors choose gen rush, it will lead to more hard tunnel to stop the gen flying . Then again, hard tunnel = gen rush , no matter how many times you add for repair the gen , this is the only things survivors can do currently .

With so many events we played , they didn't add mode, yet still another repair gen —— do event things —— repair gen / escape .

Since the HUD coming out , you can see what your teammates doing which just make it worst , nobody likes your teammates are hanging around and doing nothing when you being chased , then lead a situation that everyone doing gens if killer start to chase someone . Then killer start to realize he can't control the gen speed anymore because everyone know you are chasing their teammate and do gens without worry, so what is the best solution during this situation ? Tunneling . We are back again .

This is like an endless cycle, but developers are still trying to add another firewood to make it burn brighter . This DLC is just a beginning .

It's just a mechanic that comes with this type of genre of game (4 v 1 asymmetrical). There's always gonna be a chain and loop of events like this and there's really no avoiding it without unbalancing one side or the other. In the end it just comes down to the player irl and how they play the game. There's always gonna be a "code of honor" to online games, but to not follow it is that person's decision and if it allows them to do better than so be it. The fact is, tunneling and gen rushing will always be a mechanic in the game that will never be fully solved.

I don't think tunneling ever needs to be removed, it should never be impossible to tunnel a survivor because that would be like giving the survivors a baby crib of protection

    YES. it is a strategy

tunneling is 100% a strategy that a killer can use, how you react to it is up to you, BHVR has done what they can to reduce tunneling, but overall it needs to be possible for a killer to create a sense of pressure, if you don't want to be a toxic and deliberately tunnel, you can say yknow what you don't actually get protection, I don't have to be nice, so you leave the person who just got unhooked on the floor, this is beneficial without being "tunneling" you're forcing survivors off gens to go pick them up, but you didn't hook them again, so this is an example of how it can be used as a strategy. if it happens to you frequently then you need to start equipping yourself with things to prevent it, I say if it happens it happens and I just deal, tunneling is not an issue, being toxic is.

let's also take for example a survivor who decides to use their endurance to protect the other person, well a killer could say, yknow what, they want attention, if you're abusing your endurance, something meant to protect yourself, then you the survivor are the problem, and you got yourself tunneled/slugged, killers don't have to "be nice" they're killers! so don't test your luck, in a way it's sort of this privileged assumption that a killer isn't allowed to hit you after getting off-hook, believe it or not if you run directly into their face they probably will hit you

It's a very bad strategy, but it's a deeper issue than the surface level, if we're being honest only bad killers do it really,

the solution to this problem is just to give survivors more anti-tunnel/camp perks, reassurance was a really great one we recently just got, the new perk that was just released called blood rush, that's an anti-tunnel perk considering it only works when you're on death hook, these situations can be frustrating but they're 100% counterable, play it safe, pay attention, adapt your builds to your weakness

"there's really no avoiding it without unbalancing one side or the other."

I don't like this defeatist attitude, especially since we've long had something that did effectively reduce tunnelling.

It just got gutted in 6.1.

It's not that it's an unsolvable problem, it's that BHVR clearly doesn't want to solve it.

The playerbase wants tunneling as a part of the game, thats why devs won't do anything. Just like they protected camping due to complaints, so the perk against it F tier now

But it would split the player base, which already smaller than used to be
