The fix to camping

Make hooking a secondary and optional objective to gain benefits. Completely separate hook requirements from kill conditions thus removing the need for situational extremes; like camping for a 1k or tunneling to create a weak link.

Focus the balance of kill/escape results around the actual engaging factors of play like chases, downs, and injuries. The most engaging and enjoyable aspect are chases right?

"Hooks/hook states are too vital to core gameplay! " some might say. Well maybe, or we swap out the mandatory hook for something which concludes the chase and proves beneficial for both sides. In place of requiring hook states use mini mori-like scenes of the killer maiming the survivor. With each maiming a survivor moves closer to a mori state; a state which could be applied to all survivors. Hooks now become a tool to apply various perks.

How does this stop camping and tunneling? It allows survivors to get something every single skill level can benefit from, a free escape. No not from the match, but for after getting maimed or being hooked. Survivors could now get invulnerability and become incapacitated in all actions except hook saves and self/team mending. Killers now have a conclusive end action for a chase and no reason to pursue a single survivor repeatedly.
