Half of the Survivor Playerbase Doesn't Even Try
The title says it all. I'm just curious to see if people disagree or agree.
I won't state my own opinion.
Not trying to spark conflict.
I'm just very curious.
Also I don't mean half as in 50%, I just mean a substantial portion.

Most likely because a lot of dbd players play the game casually.

Why bother in soloq? I had 4 games today where I had 4 5+ min chases. Of those 4 games I escaped once. What is the point in trying if you lose either way?

Matchmaking is useless at the best of times. Why bother 'trying' when you will likely die the vast majority of your games anyway.

this is a fun party game for most people tbh

The matchmaking sucks for solo q and I don't understand why. I'm a mediocre survivor player that can easily die 10 - 20 games in a row trying to win and I'll still get matched against P60 Huntress' that wreck teams and known streamers like stalky boi and one pump willie but yet when I play killer I get nothing but mega sweaties with the very rare potato squad. It doesn't make any sense at all

I've noticed it too. I see so many survs ragequit or hook suicide on first down. It's insane, like why bother playing?

My last eight matches had a whopping one match that went normally. six had hard tunneling at five gens. One had hard three genning. --- If I had a number of those matches and am at zero pips anyway I go lmao, aight, guess it's time to just f* around and stay in a match solely for the fun of it - and if it's not fun I go gg next. No point whatsoever in trying if you don't want to end up in a very poor mental state. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And since the majority of matches go like that, ye - i do think the majority of surv isn't trying. Why should they?

Trying only makes the game more sweaty and less fun. This is why.

Agree. I end up with many, many teammates who stealth around waiting for the exit gate or hatch from moment one, doing nothing. Also a lot who outright AFK. Some killers reward that, too, or at least leave non-participants alone to slaughter the rest of us. After a few hours of that I give up and just switch to half-assing it as killer because at least then I can hook whatever jerks do nothing and get birds while otherwise killing zombies and then opening the exit gate to force the other survivors out. Good XP and no stress doing that. I don't even know why I bother ever queueing up as survivor, really.
I've seen survivors come in, search a few chests, find a key, and then just stand on the second story of a building (I love when they get birds and are still ignored) until everyone else dies, then get the hatch. Why did I have to be in that match? That survivor could have queued up alone without the other three survivors and done that.
God I hate how many survivors I see escape the match with fewer than 10k BP. That shouldn't be possible. It's terrible game design: survivors who do literally nothing should not be able to escape. Or at least escaping should reward garbage for BP. Points should be rewarded for participating, not for doing something that can be accomplished by avoiding the killer by avoiding the objectives.

I'll just say, there is a high chance of a survivor DCing or giving up if the game's not heading in survivor's favor.

A substantial portion of survivors do give up and turn winnable games for their teammates into losses. It's not 50% but it's definitely a significant minority.

I've had games where we get 2 gens done before a survivor goes down, and then the survivor kills themself on hook. Like what? We're doing well and you're giving up?
