Survivors should be able to block a killer in the lobby
Some PVP games, such as R6:Siege allow a team to block a limited number of of characters (operators) on the opposing team. Why not add this feature to DBD, for survivors?
Each survivor should be allowed to block a killer from the match. This would make the game more enjoyable for survivor mains by blocking broken killers, and would encourage killer mains to have fun playing a larger variety of killers.

Except that the killer is chosen when queueing up.
A substantial amount of players will opt to block Nurse specifically, dramatically increasing the queue time for anyone that wants to play her.
Character bans don't work for asymms.

I just want the ability to block people who were abusive so I don’t get matched with them again. I get that because of how toxic this community is that everyone would be blocking loads of people, therefore queue times would suffer greatly. So they won’t do it.
Its just frustrating to keep getting matched with players who were abusive and toxic, especially in end game chat with name calling, racial and homophobic slurs etc. it’s basically like the devs are saying “Yeah that sucks but we need our game to thrive so not gonna happen, sorry “

They could make system that you don't have to face same killer 3 games in a row. Enough is enough don't you think?
6 -
No, because that would increase queue times for killers.
I am so sick of these copycat threads. It doesn't work and it reeks of entitlement. "I, a very special boy deserve to dictate the terms of the game to other people! Of course they can't influence how I play at all, that would be unfair!"
5 -
So basically, no one would ever be able to play Nurse, Blight, Spirit or Wesker, because chances are there's going to be a survivor in every lobby with one of those banned.
7 -
It would not affect queque time at all. It just bad luck to face same killer more than 2 times a row. I also think they should give 200% bp bonus playing least played killers for few games as that would add more variety in games.

Killers aren't played equally and the 4 survivors in the lobby can all have played against different killers. Implementing a system that forces the survivors in lobby to face a killer they didn't play against in their last match will increase queue times. Not to mention this breaks down even more if survivors leave the lobby after a killer is found.
3 -
Many reasons. You queue as your killer-you cant switch it in queue. The game is asym, if a 4 man swf bans the top 4 killers theyll have easy games because itll just be trappers and other m1 killers. you shouldnt punish people for playing what they want, on either side
2 -
Why would "not being fun to play against" be the primary criteria for a rework? Other people are having fun playing the killers you hate. Why is what you find fun more important than their enjoyment?
Infuriating entitlement. Have a little empathy.

Lol survivors only have fun playing against killers they can loop for 5 gens. That's what BHVR should do, rework every killer so we can have a roster of all Pig clones

i agree, but letting one side block the meta will lead to the other wanting the same. let survivors block killers, killers will want to block perks, why can killer block perks but survivor cant, then killer will want to block an item, an add on block, etc etc etc, itll lead to the other side deciding how you play. i dont play meta killers (aside from wesker whos debatably meta)

Yeah it would because it's another criteria for the Matchmaker to sort through 4x every time you seek a match. Think about it.
Your BP bonus thing is also a non starter because you're tacitly punishing people for playing killers they like. If I play my favorite killer I guess I don't get a BP bonus because survivors don't like him. Why do you think survivor wishes and enjoyment should be paramount?
1 -
This I don't agree with.
Are you punished for playing survivor when Killer has the incentive bonus? No.
An incentive is that, an incentive, not a punishment for doing otherwise.
While I'm 100% against banning or restricting players of playing whatever they choose, offering a BP bonus for say, the five least played killers, wouldn't be an awful idea, as long as it was reasonable.
The Survivor/Killer queue incentive is between 25% and 100%. Well a +25% bonus for playing one of the five least played killers would be a decent starting point. Providing at least one base-game killer was included in that (Trapper/Wraith/Billy/Nurse/Hag/Doctor/Huntress), so likely Trapper most of the time, but maybe Hag or Billy fairly often too.
3 -
The difference is that the survivor/killer BP bonus isn't there to facilitate survivor enjoyment. This explicitly is. Why should a Wesker player feel pressured into getting bullied as trapper to make survivors happy?

Then play against killer bots.

They wouldn't be, they could play Wesker all they wanted. It's only +25% BP.
I'd be all for a similar system that affected survivors too. Maybe a +25% bonus for running one of five least played survivor perks or something.
1 -
Why is your opinion based on the assumption that killer players don't buy killer or survivor skins at all?
2 -
And that's where you stop getting taken seriously
5 -
Lol. You're not supposed to say the quiet part out loud.
1 -
I don't care for that tit for tat stuff. Game's asymmetrical. Not every coin has two sides. Survivors don't need a loose equivalent to a flawed system. People would feel pressured into matches they don't enjoy for the sake of a bonus. Look at the pip system. It means about as much as a ghost fart in the wind but people freak out over it all the time and adjust their play accordingly.

You can turn off the chat window.

If nobody wants to play Killer anymore, then all Survivors are ever going to do with those cosmetics is sit in a lobby with a conspicuously empty Killer slot.
3 -
So your saying screw the Killer players they are the Survivors toys.....your bias is showing.
2 -
It'll just increase queue times. Not worth it. Trust me, i have killers I absolutely hate going against for one reason or another, but they're a necessary evil
1 -
Maybe not in swf games, but if you have 4 solo players all blocking different killers then the time can add up
1 -
And on top of this idea, we should be able to BLOCK certain people from ever playing with us/appearing in our future games too.

Only if Killers get the same.
Killers will be banning Feng and Nea left and right.

Is it so bad thing to add bit more variety in games... How is giving incentives to play least played killers punishing you from playing another killer? It's there to just encourage you trying something different but you don't have to if you don't want to. Same as when the 100% incentive is on survivor you can still continue to play killer.
I have all killers in this game but only play like 5-6 of them regularly I don't even remember last time I played twins, hag, hillbilly, trickster, pinhead or doctor... Only reason for me is to play them is to do daily and those I still usually delete now if there would be bp incentives to play them I sure would play them for few games.
Not many of these killers are even survivor favourites but they would increase the variety of killer roster you face playing that role. Not facing same killer 3 times a row I think is just quality of life change and that does not happen often so I still don't know how it would affect matchmaking in anyway? I think it still would add some more fun for both sides.
0 -
Well that's actually good point. so at least the percentages you're likely face same killer should be put down. I still think that case would be rare as there is 28 killers so often you don't face same killer 3 times a row.

- If this is implemeted, the killer should be able to pick survivor perks to block from the match.
- Solo queue will be at a disadvantage because they are far more likely to have overlap (say all 4 block Nurse), whereas SWF can coordinate and ALWAYS block the top 4 least favorites without overlap.
4 -
Ban Wesker. I cannot see this guy anymore. Every 4rd game is Wesker...

Blacklisting one killer as a survivor is sth I'd like --- and for me it would be Plague. Because the puking sound of Plague makes me want to puke as well. Which is thoroughly unenjoable; against plague it's basekit plaything for me as I mute the game.
I hear about other people who would block Dredge because the nightfall sounds are triggers with severe consequences. Some would block clown because of coulrophobia.
Arguably, the majority of people would block very high frequency killers - which, as people pointed out, would have incredibly long Q-times as a result. (The irony though: long Q-times prevent people playing these killers from enjoying the game, therefore it should not be a thing. Facing the same killer repeatedly prevents people playing survivor from enjoying the game... but that's fine, apparently😬)
It doesn't have to be absolutes, though. We already know matchmaking expands MMR to the point of ignoring MMR if Q-times get too long. So, what if the blacklist is active, MMR begins but after a certain threshold is reached and no match is found, it starts over without the blacklist active. So people who have genuine issues with certain killers are way less likely to get matched with them because of a general big pool of killers; there should be enough alternatives out there. All the people who block a killer for frequency also still have a chance at facing another one - if available in their MMR range - but if not that prefence is ignored because generally it's speed of matchmaking over ideal matching.

R6: Siege is a symmetrical game
Also they also have a map picking system
1 -
Every 4rd game you say?
0 -
Ah yes, because we should punish players for playing the character they want to play. Brilliant!
2 -
knight player seething with their 2 hour q time
jokes aside this is a bad idea in this kinda game
0 -
R6 siege isn't asymmetrical
This idea is probably the worst I've seen on the forums
1 -
I just want to say that OPs idea is absolutely hideous,
But it would be funny if killer could say like, no DH or DS or SB lol
2 -
This offer is very tempting. I will say with great confidence that my friends, colleagues, acquaintances or someone else will block the nurse because no one wants to play against her. Yes, even I myself personally consider her unbalanced strong and would not mind removing her from the game altogether.
0 -
My god, NO!
“we don’t like that killer, so anybody who plays them should be punished and never get to play them again”
Dude, get over yourself. Either play the game and accept the killer you get, or go play minecraft and control your own little world.
