The save icon won't stop spinning. Can I close DbD?

It said match found, but never took me to the lobby. I've been stuck on this screen with the Saving icon constantly spinning.
Can I close and restart the game, or will this corrupt data since the game is constantly saving?

It happened to me a few times on PS and closing the game does the trick. Nothing went wrong when I did.
