I can see skull merchant getting changed
I've played a lot of games with the Skull Merchant in the past couple of days and I've noticed that survivors really struggle to do the last generator since the she can use her 3 drones to patrol the last 3 gens remaining on the map and use 1 more drone in chase. I've only lost 1 match with her with a stupid build and I won pretty much all the others (agitation, iron grasp, mad grit and shattered hope).
What if the Skull Merchant has 3 drones instead of 4? Will this completely butcher her or will this actually make her a tiny bit fairer to go against? I felt like I won't mostly because there wasn't much survivors could do, especially on small or indoor maps like Midwich.
I find myself using always 3 drones and keeping 1 for chases (this with 4 drones in total). So I can pretty much lock down an area while still being able to chase while locking down a loop.
With 3 drones, survivors can actually do their objective without giving up out of boredom. I can choose, do I want to lock down an area or do I want to keep myself a drone for chases? It feels pretty unfair to do both and get away with it.
We could buff other parts of her kit to compensate if giving her 3 drones is a bit too much. Like her getting a speed boost of like 10% when someone gets rid of one of her drones so she can go back to that area quicker if let's say that drone was hacked more than x meters away.
Thoughts?

I wouldn’t be opposed to this but also I feel like the problem is more so the gen kick 3 gen meta than her power
Get rid of CoB and overcharge and I don’t think her 3 gen ability would be too strong

She needs buffs, not nerfs! The drones are easily countered as they are now.

3 drones would just encourage her more to 3 gen. She just won't use a drone for chase in that case, I can promise you that. Actually, she should have 5 drones, so she can cover more of the map, and is therefore encouraged to not just lock down a 3 gen.
Instead, they should use the range restrictions of drones to help reduce her 3 gen problem. A drone can't be placed within 22 meters range of another drone. This should have a 15 seconds lingering effect after a drone is disabled. This way she can't just place a drone a few seconds after a drone was hacked in the same spot.
Then they should also buff her undetectable lingering duration after she leaves a drone's radius, to 4 or 5 seconds, and she would be generally more viable, but her 3 gen would be a bit weaker. Making her generally more fun.

There's nothing wrong with skull merchant the problem is CoB and OC. You cannot give killers perks that let them regress gens infinitely without any condition to earn it other than kicking the gen. 3 genning was a powerful strat before CoB/OC were a thing and the only way you were regressing gens was ruin which could be cleansed and pop/pain res which required downs. Now you can effectively regress gens without even chasing survivors AND gens takes 10 seconds longer than they did then. Of course the meta has shifted to boring dragged out 3 gens when you look at it that way. Skull merchant's power is good at doing that and absolutely nothing else.

If only Survivors could remove the drone. Hmm.
What if Survivors equipped Deja Vu and didn't 3Gen themselves?
Its worth considering if the Survivors didnt just make a mistake here, Sure survivors might be good at looping and rushing gens, but how good are they when it comes to picking which gens to finish? Most are really bad.
A Good Strategy vs Skull Merchant is doing all Gens a little bit, it forces her to use the drones to be spread thin.

I do not expect any changes for her because I suspect that her kill-rate will be very low at 5% MMR charts like 55-57% kill-rate.

I think the 3 gen bulwark problem, and even the holding w problem she faces, comes from the fact that her drones have the ability to expose. I think they should remove that and instead buff other aspects about her like increased stealth duration, increased hack sequence, no movement penalty from holding her tracker, maybe even add a new effect to replace exposed. For example, a taser that periodically could temporarily stop a survivor's action when within line of sight of the drone to give her some passive slowdown when she isnt near her drone.

You can hack drones 10 seconds after they are activated. You don't have to wait the full 30 second duration.
