Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Make people automatically aware that camping, slugging, teabagging, etc ist not bannable

I've seen people often claiming to report face campers or sluggers. Now we know from the FAQ that this kind of stuff is not bannable, but legit tactics which can be countered. Nonetheless there seems to be a "unwritten ethic" that this kind of stuff would be bannable among many players. I've seen "report for camping", etc. multiple times and I wonder why people think this is bannable.

Since most people do not read the FAQ, it would be great if there was some kind of pop-up or notification when someone mentions camping, tunneling, bodyblocking etc in chat or in the report window stating that this is an allowed play mechanic. This would really help get this information out there.

Just make it a tip and call it a day I think.

Would also be a viable option (better than nothing), but I'm not sure if everyone reads that. It does not need to nag people, just be visible enough that people understand what the devs intended to be allowed game mechanics.

I think any step in that direction would be good and in case the number of such messages goes down we know it was the right choice.

Well, they can consider camping and tunneling a viable strategy, but you can't change the view people have on that, and tbh I agree with them. I consider them to be a very boring and unsatisfying strategy for everyone involved, such as could be hacking. I know it's not exactly the same, but it does take the fun out of the game, imo. That's why I rarely use those 'strategies' as a killer, and if I use them it's usually in the endgame or because there is no other viable option for me (eg, I happen to come across a recently unhooked survivor and there's no one else around).

I don't see how t-bagging is any sort of strategy, tbh it seems more disrespectful than anything, and most of the times it belongs to toxic people being hateful and rude in the chat.

In the end, anyone can play as they like, but that's most likely what hackers think too. But if not bannable, I do think it should be heavily encouraged to play within a few standards. But that needs some major adjustments to the game, first.

The tips are more for people that are new to the game or their specific killer, so I feel it would be appropriate.

Not that I disagree with this though.

Sure, many times these strategies aren't particular fun, but I think that games having these options are far more interesting than if they don't, because it creates much more possibilities. Behavior tries to disincentivize at least some strategies in a certain way (e.g. less emblems when camping near the survivor), which I think is a good way to handle this.

But sometimes (e.g. in Endgame), there is essentially nothing else to do for the killer. When you get someone on the hook, you try to get the most out of this situation. The amount of times I've read "camping! noob!" for doing that at the end of the game is incredible. What else am I supposed to do? Disconnect? Stand myself in the corner?

Teabagging can be a good strategy if you are a good looper and want the killer to stay on you longer so that you team can do the gens. Because the killer's best play is to leave the survivor and to go for a weaker link, the survivor might try to teabag and trying to make the killer to continue the chase.

Also, I've had people complaining about slugging when they run boil over/flip flop and run on the second floor. Sure, I could leave them be but I don't need to. I like to have the choice. I agree with you: If certain strategies are unfun for many, they should be disincentivized by some means, but not people should not threat other people when they use these strategies anyways. If they are in the game, they can be used.

So, I'm going to assume some moderator doesn't liked me posting about the SpookNJukes video of a streamer false reporting killers just for killing or tunneling him, as not only that part is gone from my post without any notice but also an answer the OP did to my comment. Funny, seems like the ingame chat is not the only thing over censored in DbD.

"A killer can't play smart with the intention of winning if it affects my enjoyment of the game."

The game? Don't you mean my game?

Like I said, search in Youtube. There is full channels dedicated to salty survivors and killers, specially TTVs, reporting and false reporting just because they had being tunneled or didn't allowed them to play like they wanted and win.

i don't really watch "salt mining "channels cuz they become too boring too soon ,,but yeah reporting people for tunneling / tbaggin/ camping is just stupid and honestly should result in escalating penalties for cloggin up the report system
