Really wished to know how the 3 gen meta was born? If the devs planed it

Like since the 6.1 update we have received so much content that created the 3 gen discussion that is happening now, like kinda wished we knew if it was intentional by the devs or an accident.

Like, let's review things:

  • Eruption and overcharged get buffed while POP and Ruin get nerfed and COB remain unchanged
  • Knight gets released with a power designed to manage multiple tasks making him strong at 3 gen strats and holding the game
  • No where to hide and Potential energy get released, a perk that synergies very well with 3 gen strats and a perk that tries to counter 3 gen strats
  • New maps that got reworked or changed gen spawn logic that created really tight 3 gen RNG or even guaranteed 3 gen spots
  • SM gets released with a power to control areas of the map with information and delay survivors, her kit almost seems designed with this play style in mind

Like, yes Eruption got nerfed in latest patch, the HUD also helps, so i think the devs seem to realize this is a thing.

I am sure all the videos showing 40 min matches because of their new killers also doesn't sit well with them. But so many things that piled on.

I really wished to know if it was intentional or not, i guess we will never find out, just wait and see how this is going to evolve

It was intentional. They said in that update they wanted to encourage killers to kick generators as it would create a game where you interacted more with the killer.

Right after the change, some killers would start holding a 3 gen from the start of the match and never leave. They'd eventually lose if the survivors realized and just started always playing safe, but it took forever.

I also think the base kit 2.5% is stronger than people give credit to. The reason this used to not work is kicking was a waste of time that did nothing. Now it removes 2.25 seconds and stacks with Call of Brine to remove more.

Probably, i guess it's a good learning experience and nice to see what happens with meta shifts and little tweaks and additions make to the game.

Just hope we can get out of this.

People say they hate nurse, but i prefer to loose 4 min game than to win a 45 min stall. It's exhausting, especially because this just incentivized killers to not chase Survivor to kick gens and keep a 3 gen

as someone who plays both sides, I understand why killers do it. When you face a coordinated SWF with survivors who know how to loop well and abuse broken maps, there’s really not much else you can do to stand a chance of of winning.

I watched the recent Scott Jund video about it and he made a good point. Three gen strategy has always been a thing and all killers can use it effectively, but most killers have other tools and strategies available. Now we have two new killers in a row that are especially good at the three gen strategy and that’s basically the only thing they are good at.
