Red Forest, or Why did BHVR Have to Make a Difficult Map Worse?

Something of a vent post really. Red Forest (particularly Mother's Dwelling) was generally agreed to be one of the worst– if not the worst– map domains in DBD for Killer. Far too big, an very unforgiving main building and tons of safe loops. Since I don't play S tier killers frequently I struggled a lot with this map, since its size and structure favoured high mobility killers and invalidated a lot of features that weaker killers rely on: looking at community opinion and map tier lists I don't think I'm alone in that assessment. And then the rework happened and somehow it's even worse. I guess the visual changes to some of the filler tiles mean that Huntress might do a little better on her home turf, but every other alteration makes this grotesque, bloated map feel even more punishing on killers that aren't Blight or Nurse. The addition of more stuff to the periphery makes the map even larger; the changes to main building in Mother's Dwelling give survivors even more escape and loop options; gens spawn miles apart from each other, making it impossible to get value from Terror Radius or AoE perks like Jolt; hook RNG seems totally deranged, and no matter where you go there's always another vault or another pallet just in reach, making chases potentially incredibly protracted. And they didn't even add good grass for Trapper. Map imbalance is one of the biggest underlying issues that plagues DBD, since it influences Killer balance, Perk balance and playstyle balance. And yet the last remotely killer-favouring map released was Midwich, and that was nearly 3 years ago (and it's not even good for every killer: for that you have to go back one further to Dead Dawg Saloon). Since then, we've had a succession of maps that are either Survivor-sided or just miserable for everyone. BHVR have shown that they can at least take the edge off some of the worst maps with the changes to Eyrie, imperfect as they are. Why stop there? Why not take this further, and address the most extreme examples of horrible map designs like Red Forest, Coldwind Farm and Borgo?
