Forced Penance

What is its role?

There are 3 perks that punish body blocking / protection hits: Forced Penance, Mad Grit, and Starstruck. Two of them only work while carrying a survivor, leaving Forced Penance the only way to "deal with" mid-chase protection hits.

Why is it bad at its role?

I put deal with in quotes because Forced Penance does a terrible job at it. It doesn't stop the protection from happening; it only mitigiates how quickly the survivor can recover and do it again. However, it can't even do that effectively.

What happens? It applies the Broken status. Well, survivors can still use Dead Hard while Broken to tank another protection hit anyway. That, or they can ignore it completely and immediately hop on a gen. They aren't forced to do anything, unlike the name of the perk suggests.

What can make it better?

  1. Have Forced Penance apply Deep Wounds instead of Broken.
    1. This makes survivors unable to use Dead Hard.
    2. The survivor's penance is having to mend; they cannot hop on a gen straight away and ignore it.
  2. Have Forced Penance circumstantially deter body blocking with a lethal effect.
    1. Either make it work like Spirit Fury, and have every third protection hit put the survivor into the dying state.
    2. Or make all protection hits put the survivor into the dying state once all gens have been completed.
    3. With 80 seconds of Broken gone, survivors can mend, heal, and protect more often; this mitigates that.

is the perk suppose counter bodyblocking? I thought all it does is given broken if someone body-blocks you. My interpretation of the perk is that its anti-heal perk that triggers when survivors bodyblock. seems very pointless. I don't understand why anyone would use a situational perk like that.

I think only perk that properly counter bodyblocking is STBFL but the irony of that perk is that it also GETS countered by body-blocking because of obsession stack loss status. SWF bodyblocking is truely unfun experience with killer because many killers have no counters to the strategy except through this perk which can easily be nulled into nothingness.
