The pre 4.5.0 animations were better then the ones we have now

I have been playing Dead by Daylight since April 2020. And in that time I got very used to the state that the game was in. Over time DbD started to evolve, as it should, and Dead by Daylight would undergo changes that would set it on course for what it has become today. One of the most significant updates (In my opinion) was the 4.5.0 Movement animations and HUD updates that would put an end to over 5 years of animations that the community had become accustomed to. Between the time I started playing Dead by Daylight, and the time of the 4.5.0 update, I had about 314 days to play with the original movement as opposed to the 769 days I've had with the newer ones. Despite this I still find myself longing for the older animations every time I play and this is not without reason. The 2 main reasons as to why are as follows:

Nostalgia:

I've listed this first as in my eyes it would be the least credible, and for good reason, however I know I am not alone when I say that the old movement holds a special place in my heart because of the enjoyment I had when I first started playing DbD, as well as it being the animations I improved at the game with. In terms of nostalgia, it is not only animations that factor in, but more so a combination of many different things. For example, Macmillan with the blue tint, Autohaven with the green, Dark Coldwind and several other things I am missing make the old animations that much more memorable because those are simply the things we don't have in current Dead by Daylight, especially considering how much the game has changed since then. The new animations don't hold any sort of weight with it, and so I don't think I will ever grow to like them.

Animations:

This is probably the most obvious reason but the visual aspect of the new movement seems lacklustre and uninspired. The first to be addressed is the idle animation, which I have no problem with. Nor do I dislike the running animation. The issue for me is the injured running. The main skill and gameplay aspect of DbD is the chase where a survivor is chased by a killer. To state the obvious, this is meant to be an intense and fast paced period of time where the killer is actively trying to catch you. This is amplified even further through the addition of chase music to killers, adding to the fast paced nature of the chase. However, I feel as if the new animations somewhat oppose this idea with it looking as if there isn't an urgency in this situation. The injured running animation makes It seem as though the survivor is hobbling away from the killer. This for me takes away from the fast paced nature that a chase is meant to have and slows it down. This is the main issue I have and while I do play through it, there are many a match where I wish to play with the OG animations. Compared to the old animations where the survivor would limp at a seemingly much faster speed and take longer strides made me, and probably other players, feel faster and smoother when running.

There may be other reasons that other players have which I failed to mention but these are the main reasons for me.

DbD is everything but realistic. What exactly do you like about the new movement?

And the sound design was better pre 1.4.

I feel like there should be two injured running animations: the weak limping one you described should be how they run out of chase, switching to a more frantic and desperate animation while in chase.

That wouldn't be a bad idea tbh.

Those old animations were not great, I truly believe people are just looking through nostalgia.

I've seen videos with the old animations and they were awful. Eww, please no.

I miss the turning transition movements they added and then panick removed a week later. 360s are a gimmick that doesn't work vs decent killers. They aren't worth keeping direction changes that look like they're straight out of a ps2 era sports game.

The new animations are much better in my opinion. I look back at old Dbd videos and the previous ones look so silly. Especially ones like the injured survivor animation.

The new animations look better but I miss your character’s item actually looking heavy. They just swing it around like they are holding nothing now

i can understand nostalgia for old maps a bit

but there's nothing about the old animations that looked good to me except the intro where they were looking around them instead of standing up like robots.

other than that old animations were so ewww

Old animations looked goofy, but they made the survivors look genuenly scared, specially when spawning.

New animations look generally better, but make survivors look like robots and sticks.

Imo, neither look right. The only ones I'm fine with as they are right now are the dying state, recovering and crawling. I'd change everything else, though not back to how it used to be, that'd be worse.

I just miss being able to spin while on the ground. Always put a smile on my face
