I don't understand what people are meant to get out of these meta shifts.
We keep seeing perks/addons/mechanics nerfed (often to the point of uselessness), simply because they had high usage rates. No consideration as to why they had high usage rates, and often nerfed/removed without any consideration as to what anyone is meant to have fun with in their place. A meta shift has no value if it's directly less fun than before.
Like, I just don't get what people are suppose to have fun with anymore. They keep adding more and more garbage to the game, but it feels like the amount of depth and variety for how matches can play out, gets narrower and narrower.

That's really the main thing. Almost anyone can look at these changes and just see the writing on the wall for how incredibly boring matches are going become for both sides.

Even the way they handle buffs is pathetic. As if tweaking the numbers on a few inherently garbage random addons that nobody uses was going to change anything.

This isn't even a dbd specific thing. Things should be nerfed and buffed until they are out of the meta, not specifically because of popularity. There is a reason league is such a long standing and popular game. Please don't hit me with the "it's an assym bro" argument that is in itself irrelevant. The longer the game stagnates and doesn't do changes the more people will stop playing.

On the League comparison. League has some bad metas as well that people didn't like. But since Riot has constantly been changing things so nothing stays dominate for too long, the bad metas come and go.

Exactly, a two week patch cycle makes it so almost every thing comes and goes in metas. Plus in league everything is playable for up until diamond. The only champ I have seen be meta for over a year and a half in the last 5 years(playing for 10) is fiora.
