Hit & Run is.... bad?
Alright, my first discussion since serving my month in the hole. So there's this notion I keep seeing in the comments of the recent changes.
Apparently Hit & Run playstyles are bad? What? Why?
I'm hitting a Survivor, then LETTING YOU GO, and then finding another Survivor.
Isn't this literally the exact opposite of tunnelling? Isn't tunnelling "worse than ever" now? I'm letting you go and releasing you to still keep playing the game and people are mad?
What do you want from killers? If I hook you and stay and camp, that's bad. If I hit you and stay on you, that is tunnelling and I'm a scumbag. If I do nothing that is being an AFK killer and THAT is bad!
WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FROM US?!

Hit and run would be fine if they were just nerfing medkits and CoH and not nerfing base healing.
Hit and run with a base healing nerf especially with Sloppy existing is going to be a nightmare.

Hit and Run is what was often suggested for people who used to ''overcommit'' the chase, yet game actively punished killers who both tried to do hit-and-run by giving survivors plenty of ways to recover afterwards or commit till the end by giving plenty of speed burst and second chance perks which would result into a 1 minute+ chase or worse.
People just need to adapt to these changes. Specifically survivor players. Killers on the other hand now have to shift to a new meta and change their entire perk load-out because gen kick regression meta got nerfed along with % progress regression, making path to chase and heal pressure.

Hit and run is for applying "pressure" to other survivors. The "pressure" is that they will want to heal instead of doing gens, so you spend minimal effort as the killer to injure everyone and then in return you get free gen slowdown for your trouble.
The healing changes are not what you want for hit and run. Heal speeds are now so long that it's more efficient for survivors to complete gens injured instead of trying to heal up. You gain nothing from hit and run with this change and actively lose time because you're handing out free resilience buffs like candy, without a single down for your trouble. Not to mention that if "being healthy" is difficult to maintain, survivors will resort to pre-dropping pallets like it's comp.
Gens will be the only thing worth doing, and since medkits and circle are decimated, and even flashlights are less enticing, toolboxes and BNP are also the only thing worth bringing now too.
Games will be over in 5 minutes, no matter who "wins". Both killers and survivors should be fighting the extra base healing time.

I think people are worried it'll be like our current iteration of hit n run. Hit and run to the gens.
I know you were around back then, basically imagine the old no-heal gen rush 2018 meta but with today's perks and the general increase in skill.
That's what is coming to us.

I guess. What I am left with though is still the idea if what exactly is acceptable behavior at this point? What are we ALLOWED to do now?

So hit-and-run doesn't work now because healing is too easy, and hit-and-run won't work after the update because healing will be too hard?

Tunneling is not bad. Don't listen to people who make it out to be the worst moral failing of the game. Usually if you are even able to tunnel as certain killers, it's because the survivors are doing something wrong anyway.
Hit and run is fine too, but in the current meta it is a little weak.

I think its more frowned upon on survivors is because hit and run are usually used on killers that get an ez hit from sneal attacks that require little effort and little chase to no chase at all.
However thats just dbd tho. Its supposed to be the most scary and hectic when that tactic is used. But most ppl forget about that and just want the chasing aspect of it between killer rather than an ez sucker punch.

I never claimed hit and run doesn't work right now. It gets people to stop what they're doing and go heal, probably go across the map to heal or hunt for a totem.
I also never said medkits or circle are balanced, and the medkit change isn't terrible. The only aspect I'm actively opposed to is the increase to base healing time as it is so heavy handed it will just encourage gen rushing and nothing else.
Survivors should have to decide whether to heal or not, and either of those options can be beneficial to the killer. If healing is hands-down always the wrong choice, they will plan for doing gens faster than you can possibly react instead.
