Only started to use DH during last couple of months frequently. Before I prefered to use Balanced Landing but most of the time I didnt use exhaustion perks at all cuz they were "mainstream, boring and overpowered" in my opinion.

Instead I rather enjoyed information perks or perks like Blast Mine to make fun out of killers who would rather kick a 10% gen than to commit to a chase.

Not gonna lie playing predominantly in SWF I kinda relied on my friends bringing good exhaustion perks and performing long chases wheras I focused more on the macro level gameplay since the beginning of playing this game back in 2018. I had fun in this game running detective's hunch, providing my team with reliable CoH support with boons in locations where no killer could ever find it or by destroying noed before it could even activate (or destroy it even within 3 seconds after activation LOL).

I am a decent looper and juicer but ofc without exhaustion perks my chases lasted on averege not as long as they could since there was no possibility to correct wrong guesses, minor mistakes on loops or just to have a chance to get to another loop after killer broke a pallet and was catching up to you quickly before you could get to anywhere else.

After years of macro level gamestyle I finally got bored of this and wanted to try something new. So I finally started using Dead Hard even though I hated and despised this perk so much. I hated it for being "very" unreliable compared to all my other perks which gave me consistent value every single game whereas Dead Hard, as I could observe with my friends or by playing killer against other survivors only had like 30 to 50% success rate.

But I wanted to give it a chance. So I started to use it and what can I say? After few days of awkward pressing E I got used to it pretty quickly, made a mouse bind and it got the most efficient and most fun chase perk I ever used.

I liked how you could save pallets by using DH, take an inevitable hit and just transition with speed boost to another loop. I liked the mindgames when killers baited it out and you didnt use it and the satisfaction when you used it in the right moment in the end (AUTO DH IS REAL !!! ). I liked it for the versatile fun plays it made possible: Like saving from hook against camping killer into DH, picking up a slug into DH, Sabo into DH, taking a DH hit for a friend who is Dead on Hook. The variety of occasions where you could use it was insane. Even when you ######### up half of the time, it still made you enjoy the game very much when it worked and you didn't feel vulnerable while injured anymore.

So after years I finally got the reasons why it was so popular (or hated, even though it has never been a big issue fo me when I played killer).

Unfortunately there are only few weeks left to enjoy this amazing perk which made you viable even against the most deadly killers Nurse, Blight and Spirit.

Rest in Peace, you were really fun. But fun is not allowed in this game (Every Billy main can confirm).

So welcome back the old macro play and the new highly interactive sprintburst meta.

Yeah DH added a whole extra layer of mindgames to a chase and when it worked it was soo satisfying. It was the only fun exhaustion perk (the others are literally "do this to run faster for a bit") and I never stopped bringing it even when every killer waited it out just for that potential to get another health state. I recommend using ded haaaaard for as long as you can before the patch comes out.

New meta will be staying injured with resi, pre-running with SB and pre-dropping every pallet. Imma keep using DH tho, it's basically an addiction at this point.

I had normal chases for five years and I strongly disagree.

Ofc spirit can wait it out like any other killer but since it's a 110% killer it is more punishing for her and DHs against Spirit are actually easier than against a Trapper.

Against good Blights DH is the only thing that can keep you alive for a decent ammount of time and give you the chance to transition to another loop. Normal spins won't do this.

Yeah, I don't know in what world playing tiles correctly vs many killers in the game is less skillful than either pressing e at a pallet and hoping the killer doesn't have good timing or hoping the killer loses patience when not at a pallet. Anything that's telegraphed is easy to react to besides blight with dh as well. With both my own games and all of the content I watch on both sides, I can count on one hand how many times I have seen a really skilled dh play since 6.1.0.

I can observe skilled dh play in every game with my friends (some of them playing this game competitively).

But sure. Some people can continue living in a bubble and think that a completely random win on a 50/50% pallet / TL is more related to skill then pressing E when killer does not expect this.

I assume in this bubble a comfy jungle gym is always available as well. Even when you do a generator in a dead zone area or have a high mobility killer on your butt.

Killer mains I feel don't understand that the fun factor is why people use it. I can 99 SB and be just as effective if not more than with DH, it's simply not as satisfying as pulling off a successful DH. Also it takes a bad killer to not be able to counter a DH realistically, that's just a fact. Unless DH is used on a tile with a pallet it's effectively useless. You can barely conserve pallets on a loop ever since they increased bloodlust speed, and DH was basically the last way to accomplish this. Not anymore, bye bye looping mindgames. It was the only reason I enjoyed this game so it's probably going to be bye bye DBD for me unfortunately, I used to love this game.

Who brings up filler pallet plays when talking about skillful plays on tiles? Who picks two small parts of the many tiles in the game in this conversation?

You didn't even bring anything to this conversation here. You just said pressing e when the killer doesn't expect it is more skillful than all of looping. But first of all what decent killer wouldn't expect it? If the killer m1s you in open field before you press e thats on them, nothing you did. The dh are at a pallet is literally a 50/50. On the seeing a really skilled dh every game thing, I guess that just means your bar for something really skilled is far lower than mine.

If you send me a clip that is even close to this in mind gaming and skillfulness regarding dh I may believe you. Although I doubt you can because no other killer allows for an interaction that deep with dh.

If you need me to explain all the minute details the nea pulled off there I can.

These devs out of all killers nerfed Billy addons while blight exists and the only good gen regress perk killers had (pain reso),,,did you expect anything better ?

Let's take this (False) argument at face value: People only ran DH because it was fun. Here's the problem: In a multiplayer game, when you're designing a mechanic, you can't only be thinking about the fun of the player who gets to use it. You also have to be thinking about the fun of the player who it gets used on.

And I'll tell you right now: Dead Hard is the #1 mechanic that makes me reconsider when I'm thinking of playing Killer. Medkits? Flashlights? Who cares. Bad maps? Sweaty SWFs? Whatever, it's not every match. But Dead Hard? Please god, make it stop.

So if you're gonna use "Muh fun" as an argument, newsflash: Playing against Dead Hard isn't fun. This is something Killers have been saying for years, and Survivors have dismissed it over and over, but now that it affects you, suddenly having fun is important?

You can choose not to run DH if it isn't fun for you, but I have no choice but to play against DH constantly and treat every Survivor like they have it if I'm playing Killer. So why should your fun take precedence over mine?

Well it's not fun for me either the 70% of the time it doesn't work but you don't see me whining that the endurance window should be increased to 3-5 seconds. The reality is, if a survivor is able to successfully DH more than one time you are not good at killer.

Well, if the perk is unfun for you 70% of the time, then it sounds like a pretty unfun perk for both sides. All the more reason to nerf it to the ground. Killers don't have to play against a perk that punishes them for hitting the Survivor, and Survivors don't have to play a perk that makes them look like an idiot 70% of the time. Win-win.

I mean, I had fun with the original Mettle of Man. I never took it off. If I strategized just right, I could get hit and stay injured and totally counter Rancor, it was great. Doesn't mean it wasn't completely broken, the most powerful perk in the game, and totally miserable for killers to face. It was obvious it was OP and needed to be changed. I hated going against it as killer.

I know in DbD each side has to make its own fun and in general both sides aren't going to be having fun at the same time, but the devs still have to try to keep it balanced enough that there are players willing to queue up for both sides. If one side is having more fun than the other at all times, that's bad for business.

    You can still use it.

I never used Eruption, but I can never inflict incapacitated with it now.
