Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Mid Chapter Update - my thoughts.

I don't mind this Mid-Chapter update, I feel like it's a good update for the developers making these changes as it allows for more experimental builds to be created and new meta to happen, which is good for the players that have complained on both sides about the perks.

Bloodweb changes and visual terror radius is great! I'm looking forward to see this in the PTB and how it will work, also wondering if any options will be made for disabling it or not, or if the visual terror radius will be enabled for all matches, without any option to disable it. A great addition to the game overall!

Autohaven Wreckers has been a difficult map for killers without great map mobility and particularly those that are stealth killers (map is so open it makes it harder for the opportunity to sneak up and surprise the survivor), and I cannot wait to see these changes made to the maps in the realm. Hopefully, the developers make it so that the map isn't completely killer sided, bringing no occasional dead zone like they did with Eyrie of Crows with a pallet to the side of the map with no opportunities to connect it to any other tiles. Now, I'm incredibly pleased to see that they're changing the walls of car on Gas Heaven, as the line of sight was immediately broken making it hard for chasing as killer. Cutting them with up with the chance of pallets spawning is good, prevents dead zone. However, I'm not excited about the main gas station spawning in the middle of map. As whilst you might make specific rules on what can or can't spawn next to it, on one patch you're going to get the occasional change where this won't happen, as to what happened with the generator spawns on RPD which will make this building stronger.

The healing changes are massive. Obviously the fact you can heal in "10 seconds" as stated in the post with practically nothing and just with an Emergency Med kit is insane, with add on and perks combined this is ridiculous, especially if combined with green med kits. Adding more pressure to the game as your killer, so it's good that they're addressing this. And the fact they are changing the default healing speeds will encourage hit and run playstyles mixed with perks will cause the survivor to waste time healing themselves. Adding either two scenarios - they either heal or repair a gen injured. 24 seconds to heal yourself by default is insane. But the healing process wasn't an issue, it was the perks that encouraged self healing which was ridiculous. The fact boons was able to allow you to heal yourself at normal speeds was insane, and that only needed to be adjusted. Sure, you can destroy a boon totem but for them to run over and heal within 16 seconds after spending 30 seconds in a chase to hit them is not balanced to my perspective, same for maybe a bunch of killer players. And I believe this 24 seconds should only apply towards yourself, when other players actively heal you (altruistic) should take the regular 16 seconds, as two other survivors are not on generators healing any injured player adding more time for the killer to add pressure. And at last, green med kits no longer increase the speeds of healing yourself, that alone was a great change.

Now for the perk changes I'm not directly bothered by these changes, as it was obvious that the developers were going to change this perks because of complaints and just generally wanting to change the meta. However, the new Dead Hard is just going to encourage tunnelling, to make sure the unhooker doesn't get a safe unhook which enables their Dead Hard. Confused over the logic which Behaviour used for changing this perk. And the fact they changed Pain Resonance to make it only work 4 times on each survivor in a match is absurd, as it encouraged contributing to a chase for a chance to deal 15% damage to the generator with the most progress, definitely could've changed it in a much better way. Furthermore, the fact they pretty much killed Dead Hard and now the last remaining used gen regression perks has balanced killers and survivors in some extent, sure other perks exist for gen regression but it leads to new meta for each role. And for Circle of Healing I'm not bothered, and I can't be really bothered to go on about my opinions considering the healing times were nerfed anyway.

Killers updates! Oh look, The Hillbilly has been nerfed! The developers hatred from Pig has gradually been transferred over to The Hillbilly, as they're nerfing probably the two main add on that prevent the killer from becoming a simple M1 killer is his engravings. He isn't particularly strong, and with the overheating ability just seems to punish him more than anything, a very disappointing change.

Add on changes generally don't make sense except The Pig and The Clown changes, which I believe are okay. But for Nightmare, Oni and Executioner it seems like they're picking add on from a hat and just buffing it for the fun of it.

The Bright Light Interactions Removal is a very interesting change, whilst it could be justified if Dead By Daylight was in 2016 or 2017 it's just an outdated mechanic which doesn't make sense considering The Wraith wasn't strong. But I dislike the removal of The Nurses and Artist interactions, in some scenarios a flashlight was able to prevent you going down by simply shining it. And whilst it's an absolute incredible change for removing the interaction for The Hag I do not like the fact they're still adding a way to basically wipe out her traps, The Hag is already pretty weak and requires a 3 gen in order to do good in a match and doing this is just outrageous. I definitely think they should reconsider.

The healing nerf in combination with the slowdown perk nerfs are a great thing. I think it's actually good that they are nerfing altruistic healing as well, really making sure that injuring survivors will help you as killer. Though we'll have to wait and see how it plays out, it might be too much as many people seem to think.

But I do think the idea of nerfing healing and in return nerfing the best slowdown perks, adding some of the slowdown of those perks into killers basekit in a healthier way, is a good idea.

The only nerf I do not like is the CoH nerf actually, as self heal is the one aspect that helped solo survivors in particular. They shouldn't get rid of that. The healing nerf would nerf CoH indirectly enough if you ask me.

I am definitely looking forward to the map reworks as well. I hope they are good. I also believe Eyrie of Crows is a pretty balanced map now, definitely not killer sided, but not really survivor sided either. So I am hopeful the map changes to the two Autoheaven maps will also be similarly good.
