[PC] Character moving slowly, even stopping completely, whilst running or walking

I've had this game since November and I've never encountered this issue until recently, when I play as either the Survivor or the Killer, for a few minutes into a match my character moves fine, but a few minutes in, usually after I start running as the Survivor or I find a Survivor as the Killer, my character moves really slowly, sometimes even coming to a complete stop whilst I'm holding down my run or move keys on my Xbox controller. I've checked my internet speed, it's totally fine, I use a VPN, my game is all updated, I've adjusted the graphics to low for best performance, I've done controller tests with my controller to make sure it isn't the controller itself and it seems to be fine, so I have no idea at this stage what it could be and it's debilitating to the game because it means I get easily killed or I can't catch any Survivors.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I can't work out if it's my internet, if it's the game, if it's my controller, if it's my PC, there doesn't seem to be anything else I can do :(
