Thoughts on the SWF Finder (Player Satisfaction Survey)
There where some questions in the survey regarding a SWF finder tool and how we would feel about an option like that. Currently I mostly use the official DBD Discord server to play with others and it is very hit and miss. Based on my own past experiences with that server I want to point out a few things BHVR hopefully will keep in mind if they decide to create a SWF finder tool of some sort.
- Filters
Region filter is the obvious one but please also add filters like age, casual/competitive, beginner-friendly/experienced only - to help people find a group that would actually suit them.
- Moderation
This is probably the biggest issue I have with the official Discord server. People join the voice channels just to troll, blast loud music or shout slurs and it is hard to remove them from the channel. The only way is to mute them until they get bored or leave the channel yourself to create a new one (or have some development discord tool apparently to kick them).
An option to block people from joining your party would be needed as well as an option to record audio/report people. It is quite sad that people even have to advertise their party as LGBTQ+ friendly in the Discord server in an attempt to avoid harassment but I myself have experienced a lot of racism, homophobia and sexism there.
- Friends List Requirement
I find it quite annoying that the requirement of playing in a party is to have the other people on your friends list (or at least one of them) whether it be on Steam or in-game. Maybe it is just me but I like to play as "SWF" because in solo-Q people DC/give up on hook so frequently and it ruins the game for me. But I don't see the people I party up with as "friends". Sure, I've found people that I vibe with and join their party again when the opportunity arises but most of the time I have to go back and delete everyone from the friends list because I don't want to play with those people again or just to not have my friends list overflow with people I barely know.
I would appreciate it if you could join other people without being friends in case of a tool that is integrated in-game or a way to play together where you just have to enter the name but they don't stay on your list permanently. A list of "recently played with" would also be helpful.
- Voice Chat optional
In case this tool is going to be voice-chat based it would be nice to also have a voice-chat optional category/filter/tag. Even 4 survivors without voice can be great if you know they actually want to play the game and won't AFK/DC/give up.
My only hope is that they won't add a tool like this in an attempt to eradicate solo-survivors completely because they feel unable to balance solo-Q and SWF. I'm sure there are still plenty of people out there who actually enjoy the solo playstyle so the option should obviously remain.
