The Underlying Issue of Balancing
I’ll try and keep it brief and concise as I can.
Balance is always hot topic like a tug of war between two splitting the playerbase. On one hand you have the solo killers and on the other side the 4 survivors. Each claiming the other side has the advantage. Killers complaining about gen speed mainly and survivors complaining about killers.
After much thinking I have come to the conclusion that this game will never be balanced or close to balanced for everyone. UNLESS. This issue gets solved.
The issue being the huge disparity in the killer roster power. The top (S-tier) killers compared to the weaker low tier killers (C/D-tier) is such a huge gap. I wasn’t going to say any names but for example purposes. When it comes to the main dilemma of Killer be Survivor Balance who do you balance according to?
1) The nurse? The blights? vs survivors?
2) OR the Trappers? The sadakos? vs survivors?
Ask yourself who do we balance according to? The answer is drum roll please… you just can’t. The game is asymmetrical as is meaning the balancing issue is already more difficult compared to other games. Survivors are homogeneous killers are not they play different in skill, play style and strength.
So the solution is nerf the S tier killers and buff the C/D tier killers then focus on balancing the popular topics like gen speed and healing speeds.
I think everyone in the community can agree with this and we can all unite on this together.

Balancing around peak and optimal play would make the game balanced at every level.

I honestly think it's an issue with the base mechanics steering the playstyle of players in a negative direction.

You balance the killer roster around the skill required for the killers. Bottom tier killers have the lowest skill expression and buffing them would make them stronger compared to the mid killers. How this game does basic balance is that the lower tier killers are for new players and higher is for the higher tier players.
If you end up buffing C tier killers to B tier then what is the reason to play a B tier killers? Those killers are harder to play and result in the same power. Why would you ever learn Nurse when she is A tier and Freddy is B.

It’s not about making everything the exact same or making basic m1 killers artificially same strength as a high skill huntress hatchet users for example. I’m not advocating for standardisation of all killers to B tier. I’m talking about the glaring disparity between them. You simply cannot buff or nerf without butchering the top S tiers or the D,E tiers. Simply nerfing the top S tier broken killers is an amazing place to start so that when you make general killer buffs you don’t have more imbalance because eg. Nurse and blight benefits from them too. And if you do buff the low tier basic killers get creative with it.
