Survivors feel like escaping is nigh impossible.

Killers feel like gens are flying at record pace.

How did we get here, and do these two realities truly coexist?

Both things can be true as the playerbase for DBD is quite massive and most of it doesn't engage with the various forms of social media too often.

So there is a vocal minority of players on both sides who are probably having legitimately terrible games where their getting rushed to death or camped into boredom.

What's the current global escape rate? 10%?

Is that a guess, or did you see that somewhere? I'm quite looking forward to the devs sharing kill rates during this year's anniversary stream.

I know surviving as solo q can be tough but i highly doubt its 10%. Do you have a source?

The majority of the player base is whiny and entitled as all hell and like to overexagerate things to try and make the facts correlate to their version of reality while overestimating their own abilities.

That's just how it works. I'll be playing killer and gens be flying and then switch over to survivor and no one is touching gens it's like #########. To be fair I do kind of suck at survivor.

combination of negativity bias and how game progress works in general. you're going to notice the notifications for the other side progressing their goal more than the ones for you progressing yours, because your brain is hard wired to notice "bad" things more than good ones, and because you have far more control over your own objective so you're anticipating when your own notifications come up. when the other side's does, it's a surprise and feels like it's out of your control.

also, the fact that those notifications happen at all contributes to it. it's hard to notice when gens are not being popped as a killer. you get a notification when a gen is popped, you don't have like constant notifications saying "hey by the way survivors haven't popped a gen in the last second" or whatever. likewise, it's hard to notice when teammates are not getting hooked as a survivor. you don't get constant notifications that "everyone is fine right now".

basically, within a game you're going to remember setbacks more than you remember successes, and you're going to remember games that had more setbacks more than ones that had more successes.

Well soloq feels unplayable since there isn't any matchmaking for the role.

    I think both exist.

Survivors feel less safe since self healing is weaker. They can't be as careless like they were before.

Killers don't feel like they can stop gens as well so they result to trying to kill more effectively.

It's just the same old vicious circle of the game. Survivors need to focus on gens for any chance of escape. Killers feel the gens are going too quickly so they go harder on the survivors who then go harder on gens so then the killers go harder on the survivors...

In matches where my random teammates actually touch gens I will see first few gens fly while killer gets first down, then it quickly turns into match going killers way and they get 4k or 3k with hatch before last gen or two get finished.

This gets me thinking that an omnipresent bell toll (kind of like the one on Midwich) every minute could be a good audio queue for players to reference their progress. It is very easy to lose sense of time and urgency when things get hectic

You’re getting these conflicting opinions because of both swf vs solo and high mmr vs low mmr matches.

“Most” people generally agree in one direction if all those said people are talking about the same type of match.

IE both people are talking about high mmr players on both sides or both people are talking about low mmr players on both sides ect ect

Most people just say x side is overpowered for example while not specifying solo, swf, high mmr, low mmr, ect

    It's simple....

    It's us:

Some of us play Killer only

Some of us play Survivor only

Some of us do play both sides

And Balance... or any semblance of it- maps, perks, addons, Killer Powers and Items

As a solo surv, It takes me about 2 weeks to get to Iri 1. That’s with dealing with the -1 depip nonsense when we get destroyed by killer or teammates meme and die early.

I don’t know how often I escape, but I wouldn’t care so much IF THE GAME STOPPED DEPIPPING!!!!!!

It's much faster than that with perks, items, etc.

Killers can still say gens are flying whole also agreeing that overbrine was way too much

Because 3 surviors can simultanously be on gens at same time and at high mmr this is usually what does happen.

I don't know but somehow it all comes back to a lack of game modes or separate queues

Edit: Questionable Balancing and a poorly implemented crossplay too.
