I never thought killswitch a killer might be a good idea, until skull merchant
Nobody wants to play against this killer. Every match people just DC or kill themselves on hook, and honestly, who can blame them?,who would wanna spend 45min to an hour on a boring match were the killer just holds three gend all game?, even when the knight came out he was still tolerable and you could still have fun matches. But SM is just a shocking display of bad killer design, to the point I think just removing her and remake her could positive for the game in general.
Is not even the killer's fault that matches are boring, I mean, what else can they do with this boring lame killer other than hold a 3 gen? She is so poorly design she is good for nothing else.

I get not liking the killer, but can we stop with the whole “killswitch this unfun killer”? That’s not what the system is for, it’s only for game breaking bugs.

The killswitch is only for "gamebreaking bugs", but this killer is honestly more annoying than any bug I've ever seen...
Also besides BHVR didn't even use the killswitch for superspeed knight or gen deleting merciless storm, so I wouldn't see an issue with killswitching SM. Not like they're using it for any good anyway.

I really dont see the debate she solely promotes the worst element of dead by daylight which is a stalemate where shes already won with her 3 gen set up and its up to the survivors to decide how fast they want to die. If not a kill switch id put in so that drones cant be close to each other so that at least she wont be able to put one over every gen. And maybe take it down to 2 she can place with 2 always moving like nemesis' zombies that way she can still do her meh power but she would be encouraged to move and not sit on her 3 gen. Or get rid of her idc

My SWF group has resorted to bringing 3x Potential Energy and 2x Prove every game. You'd be shocked at some of the things these 3 gen gamers are saying in postgame. Makes quick work of the unga bunga 3 gen death by boredom strat, but it's not really feasible for solo queue. We're just farming out of the way gens for PE tokens and dumping 60% into gens at once until they don't have a 3 gen anymore. So far they're really slow to catch on and don't break from the back and forth patrol until the gens are done.

I disagree that it isn't the killers fault. They chose to play her. They chose to employ a three gen strat. Everything that makes those games a nightmare are down to the killer players choices.

What else is Skull Merchant supposed to do, though? That's the real problem here, the character's design offers little outside of generator camping.

Totem camping. Thrill +Devour, use the slowdown and Claw Trap haste to keep your totems alive.

That's because BHVR is responding to all the "unfun" complaints around anti-loop like pyramid head, nemesis, etc. Complaints around hyper mobility like blight,spirit, nurse. What exactly is left? Survivors have complained about mobility killers getting across the map too fast, anti-loop killers being too boring and ending chases too rapidly, and insta down and 1 hit killers like plague are too boring and unfun to vs.
At this point the only "good" killers according to survivor mains are all rehashes of "dashes fast in a straight line and can cause 1 health state of damage and has a long and wind up and cool down".

I've had a few matches like this with her but I will say that my usual approach to her is to spread out gens and not work on any in a clear line of sight of each other since she does have very good gen camp skill

Then this won't work for you, but it is a valid alternative to gen camping. Used it a couple times before her last tweak (haven't played much since) and went well. Survivors had a fair shake to get my totems (for Thrill once, for both another), managed 3ks each time (1 I let have hatch the other found it on their own) and each game lasted ~15 minutes.

Preach my good sir. I’m not saying she’s the most fun killer to play as or against but geez sometimes I can’t help but feel things are overly exaggerated sometimes.
The problem is the way people use her. I have yet to have anybody message me about having a terrible game against my skull merchant. I love running Chase builds with her along with totem builds. My pentimento, devour, undying, blood Favor build be having me feeling bad for the survivors sometimes though.

No one knows why MS didn’t get killswitched, but that doesn’t change the fact that the system was only intended for game breaking bugs.

She is weak, like really.
The only thing they should change is making pirating the drones harder, in exchange she cannot get them back.

One issue I've noticed with her is that if the survivor hacks a drone, she doesn't get it back until the claw trap disables and the survivor can't hack any more while the claw trap is on them. But if a survivor is dead then that means she has one uncounterable drone. Two survivors dead, two uncounterable drones. If anyone dies before all 5 generators are done, the game can rapidly snowball downhill for the survivors.
That's just one thing but I feel like Skull Merchant is made up of nothing but problems like this. She needs a significant overhaul because as she is now, I don't think she's healthy for the game.

She's not that bad, really. I don't think Nurse is healthy for the game, but she's not getting "fixed" in any signifcant way any time soon. Same with Blight.

Yup. I've had *one* good SM game since she came out, and the killer ran a chase build and didn't even attempt a 3 gen at any point. They got 3k (last survivor got hatch). It was the only time I was like, hey she can actually be fun to play against... imagine that. No one DC'd or let go on hook. It was a good game.

I don't believe that was their intention. They released a video back when she was first released, and she was intended to be a tracker/hunter. Not stand in one corner of the map guarding gens and chasing no one. It's the players who decide to take the path of least resistance.

Why would they kill switch a new killer who is also in the archives?

idk why everyone says Skull Merchant matches are 45+ minutes?
Skull Merchant has been my fav killer she came out and I can understand these claims before here mini-rework, since really she was forced to make match 30+ mins to win.
But since her mini-rework, all my matches with her have been 10-20 minutes consistently with the only reason matches getting longer than that being COH (which has been nerfed meaning not as much of an issue anymore).

I get that, but the devs should understand the game well enough to know that an AOE tracking mechanic does nothing if it's not placed on an objective point. There's zero reason to place a drone at a random jungle gym because there's no reason for a survivor to ever be there outside of a chase. That's just a basic understanding of DbD that the devs should have.

I wouldn't expect anyone to put a drone on a random tile. My assumption has always been that they were meant to be a mechanic to drive survivors in chase away from tiles/loops.
