Challenge Review: Tome 15 - Level 2
Here's a possible new series I was thinking of making, where I'll review all of the challenges. Inspired by @Reinami 's Saving Bloodpoints series where they go through every page of recently released Tomes. The goal is to list every challenge, a potential strategy for each one, and maybe give my opinions on the difficulty/repetitiveness of it. Since level 2 just released yesterday, we'll start there.
Survivor
Escape Route - Escape 4 Chases: breaking line of sight for a few seconds means you "escaped" even if you get found again right after. Very possible to do this in one match.
Sore Ankles - Fall from a height in chase 3 times: Ormond is my map of choice whenever these challenges come up. RPD also has many spots. Balanced Landing is optional, if you're fine with going down, you can probably get two falls in before you get hit twice.
Life Giver - Heal 5 health states of your teammates: Self explanatory. Use perks to boost healing if you want.
Shared Task - Finish repairing 2 gens while using friendly competition and cooperating in a single trial: You have to be on the gen when it finishes, so using a perk like Bond may help.
Here for you - Finish healing a teammate with a medkit: this is a master challenge but the requirement is only 1 anyway, so whatever. Says finish healing, so you don't have to be there for the whole health state.
My Body, Then my Mind - heal yourself two health states while using Blood Rush in a single trial: the play here is to just use a medkit or selfcare. Unsure if Renewal or Inner Healing works. You'll have to use a secondary heal source, since Blood Rush can only activate once per match anyway.
Glyph Communer - collect 1 blue glyph: only survivors can do these ones, but the negative status effect is basically a non-issue.
Killer
Scrap Yard - Damage 14 gens: Pretty simple, especially if you kick before every single chase. Damage is different than the word break, meaning Pain Res, Jolt, & Eruption will also help in this challenge.
Knockout - knock down 15 survivors: Simple, probably will take 2 games on average unless you're slug heavy.
Darkly Obsessed - hook the obsession 6 times: Just play the game normally and get it in 2-3 matches, or use nemesis/furtive chase to do it faster.
Reverent - Sacrifice 8 survivors: Easy, just play 2-3 matches and you should get it.
No Witnesses - Hit 4 survivors while undetectable in a single trial: probably easier to just use various perks, ghostface, or mirror myers instead of the Skull Merchant's power like they're encouraging in this tome.
Pursuing Prey - start a chase with 4 different survivors in a single trial: A complete joke of a Master Challenge, literally just walk forward at survivors lmao.
I'm the Skull Merchant! - Down 4 survivors using the only the SM's perks and while playing as SM: Really easy, you could get this just by playing like an M1 killer. But I do have problems with this one (check separate comment)
I want it, I got it! - Have 1 survivor with a claw trap go into a drone's radius: Either use the addon that makes survivors start with traps, or hope someone disables a drone. After that, it should be as simple as placing a drone at a loop in chase or a point of interest.
Both
Salvation or Sacrifice - 12 hooks/safe rescues: Definitely easier as Killer, since you can easily do it in two games or even one if you're lucky
Bloody Rewards - collect 75K Bloodpoints: just play 2-3 matches as any side. Use offerings to speed it up
Core Memory - collect 4 memory shads: This time it's 4 instead of 3, but it should be easy since they're practically glyphs. Probably easier as Killer since you can move freely.
Glyph Seeker - collect 2 red glyphs: easy, red glyphs have no side effects and any role can do this challenge. Probably easier for Killer, again.
Comments
-
So, I have a several problems with this challenge, so I'm making a separate comment.
- It's just a mish-mash of like 3 other challenges they usually run
- Usually the perks are all you need, and you can do any killer you want. Here you're forced to play the Skull Merchant
- Usually on these "pseudo-adept" challenges as I've come to call them, you're allowed to use a 4th perk and you just need 3 of them to be the teachables. Not here.
- The Shrine of Secrets hasn't had all the perks yet, and we won't get Thwack in there until next week (not that it matters since you gotta play SM)
- The name of the challenge is a bit silly, and reminds me of the Morbius memes
