Does anyone else feel alienated from the game?

This isn't tied to some specific balance changes or licenses, just my saddened ramblings.

I've been having a weird feeling while playing DBD the past few weeks and a little after the anniversary broadcast I think I figured out what it was. It doesn't really feel like this is the game I wanted to play anymore? I got that weird and frankly,off-putting new UI that apparently some people have and don't last patch (which I saw like NOBODY talk about?) and I just was "is this still DBD?". I still know my way around it and everything,it just feels different. Have I just played too long (almost a thousand hours now) and I'm getting burnt out? I've seen a lot of similar opinions pop up lately on social media that I haven't seen since the time I started playing in 2021..

The balance is apparently better according to all the CCs,but the game feels only more frustrating and less fun to me.

Is this a widespread thing at all?

Unironically, you probably just need a break.

Playing too much of any online game without regular breaks and moderation is going to lead to frustration and burnout, and that typically presents in the kind of attitude you're describing. Play some other stuff for a bit, see if that alleviates the feelings whenever you do come back.

As mentioned above, you probably just need a break. I've only started to come back after an almost year break and it feels so much more fresh with a ton of changes having been made of the past year.

That's not to say your break will have to be that long but, a break may help

    Burnout is real.

Take a break a few weeks, 1 month, go play civilizations (Actual DbD meme from Mathew).

I also feel the exact same way but a lot of it is from nostalgia. You remember playing dbd in 2017-18 or even 19 and you compare how amazing it was till today. You feel like the game has rightfully so modernized but along with that many aesthetics old dbd had have now been taken away and the game dosnt feel the same. The old animations, sound effects, UI, graphics, gameplay, vacuum pallets, old perks, old killers (og billy), etc, all these things are very nostalgic for old/OG dbd players and we wish we had this old dbd back no matter how flawed it used to be.

I always recall myself to how I played dbd every single day during summer break in 2018, I legit put 900 hours into the game in a single summer and it was the best part of my life tbh (ik pretty sad) and I remember waiting 10 min to get into matches, the introduction of the store and auric cells, how clown took 20 million years to be released on console how I watched "how to 360" videos, and ended up 360ing a spirit 25 times in a row when she first came out all the little things have a mas amount of nostalgia on me and when I look at dbd now, it's just not the same, stilly favorite most amazing game to exist, but not the same. Even if you didn't play during the times I mentioned you are probably feeling nostalgia for when you played the game in 2020 or whenever you played because the game has changed so much.

It's partly from burn out, but you're mostly experiencing these feelings mentally through nostalgia, happens to many of us we just don't understand how to explain it. The only time I've ever felt nostalgia or the feeling your feeling is from DBD and after watching Attack On Titan, it's a depressing but good feeling yk, like I said it's hard to explain. Anyway I hope I helped clear stuff up a bit bud.

Sounds like burnout to me as well. Not surprising, given how incredibly stale the game is currently and how bad the previous year was in that regard. Time to play something else?
