Is it just me or does this game give off so much nostalgia?

As a player from mid 2017 (I think around huntress release, I remember her hitboxes being so extremely broken when she first came out) I am always thinking back to the good ol days. Personally my "prime" of dbd was the summer of 2018 when I pumped 900 hours in 3 months. I'm always recalling summer scorching bbq (I still have the invitations) and the urban evasion/self care meta at the time. Nurses calling meta for killers and when dbd introduced the store and auric cells. Ah the good ol days.

I find myself looking into the past at this game constantly. I love this game, but it's not the same nor will it ever be the same. It has rightfully so modernized and the game base isn't as cozy anymore. I remember the feel of dbd back then and how it generally felt not necessarily scary, but cozy and warm. I remember old hatch standoffs and vacuum pallets, trapper being able to place traps right under the hook, and the billy meta where 19/20 games you played hillbilly. I remember when leader added progression towards gens and self care pared with well make it healed you in like 6 seconds. I remember old cow tree and how it was legit an infinite, but there's one thing that bothers me most.

I feel as if the aesthetics of dbd have lessend significantly. Note, graphics are separate from aesthetics. I remember when survivors had in game animations where there head moved back and forth and they generally had a fearful expression on there face, sound effects were more commom like pig tree making noises and random scary sound effects while you were sneaking around, the old running animations (imo better), old crouch animations (imo better), and there was this one thing called depth of field that no body really remembers cause it lasted for 3 months during 2017 until it was removed, I wonder if the devs know what I'm talking about. It's when you looked into the distance and it was sorta blurry creating a much spookier feel. Now you can see for miles. Also don't forget old fog and how it was so much better (kinda destroyed fps on trash consoles/computers tho). Let's compare.

New coldwin with better graphics but so so bright.

Old coldwin much cozier, worse graphics, scarier, darker.

Personally I'm a fan of old coldwin. I hate how it's so bright now. Now I still love dead by daylight and I still play it alot, I just miss many things about it. At this point I miss old prestige and old grade system lmao.

Many may think I'm crazy from this post which is respectable, but I'm sure some original dbd gamers in here understand what I'm talking about. Thanks for reading if you did get this far.

Personally I want a blend of the two or something like dead dawg. Its to dang bright for a game like this but all the small things look better in my eyes. Like and actual farmstead in the country instead of one near a bog (maybe it was near blackwater).

For us (as in the 3 stodges of Rulebreakers) we don't have much nostalgia due to how we see alot of players play lately (first hook suicides, every killer running and doing the same damn ****, you get the drill) but we do miss the crazy things we could do in the past (instant heal drive by, jumpscare Freddy) along with little things (spirit phasing through windows). Everything is slowly becoming....standardized? Probably not the word we'd want but good enough.

As someone who played the beta and pre-purchased the game, i completely disagree with this entire thread.

Summer BBQ event is way too overrated and quite frankly was just a copy & paste of Howling Grounds event.

I absolutely hated not only the old ps2 aesthetics along with their color tints (especially on MacMillan, Coldwind and a few other maps), but i also hated the old Survivor animations (especially the running animation), old fog and depth of field.

Hatchet standoffs, old keys, infinites, old metas and vacuum pallets was nothing but pure frustration.

I'm also genuinely glad Billy is no longer a regular pick by people because ######### that killer.

Coldwind being bright is only a good thing, it gives off the Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes now unlike before, so now it fits both Hillbilly and Leatherface.

Now all that's left is to go even further and replace or remove all remaining remnants of old dbd in the game, the sooner the better.

It's just nostalgia. The first few months of any game you start playing are always more memorable and exciting because you're still discovering the game. It's how I feel about League of Legends. I have great memories from 2011 when I started playing, that the game atm just can't compare. That experience can not be replicated and it's pure subjectiveness in my opinion.

Until 2020, this game was very fun for both sides. Maybe it was a bit messed up, still had the old DH and old DS, Nurse was at her 100%, every update there was 3x1 bugs (they fix 1 to add 3 new ones) but it was the years of 'gold. 0 tunneling, 0 genrush, just lots of fun. There was a lot more variety in killers since if you wanted everyone was playable even if they sucked, you just had to put in the effort. Now try to 4/4 with Legion or Freddy without freaking out
