GAME PERFORMANCE

i got an RTX 2060, all of my games run smooth asf but dead by daylight? i got play on high settings, edited my game user settings to uncap the fps, update my pc, update my drivers, verified my game files, i did everything, and yet the game is STILL dropping to either 60 frames or even 30 frames even tho i updated every and uncapped my fps???? like why isnt there a patch where they focus on performance issues and optimization cuz i been dealing with this since the hellraiser chapter and its still not sorted out, even when i play on low the game still drops to probably 40-60 frames, i even have vsync off yet it still drops frames

This game optimization is non-existent

A moment of silence for Switch performance

Optimization is the fantasy aspect of this game. I'm sure once enough platforms start seeing performance issues they'll have to do something....right?...right???

You'd think.

Temple of Purgation (? spelling) gets around 12 frames. It's hardly playable on Switch.

The game is incredibly CPU heavy, and that's the thing that holds it back on most consoles, not the graphics at all. The only exception to this is Switch, because everything about that console is terrible (and the fact that Tears Of The Kingdom looks and runs as well as it does is an absolute miracle). It could be that your GPU has nothing to do with it (like, I can get a consistent 60fps on a GTX 1660, so I'd assume that'd be easy for an RTX 2060) and it's your CPU that's struggling. My current one (Ryzen 7 3700x) is fine but my old, awful intel CPU from like 2014? I genuinely thought it was gonna explode at times, I don't know how it survived.

I just upgraded GPU, but before that I had something weaker than a 2060 and I was able to run DbD with incredible settings. I don't know the why of it, @GoodBoyKaru seems like a solid possible answer.

Our poor poor Switch cousins.
Y'all the real heros!!

This is roughly why they admitted they couldn't meet that lofty goal of all platforms running it at a minimum 60 frames. The bottlenecking of their coding is just too much for the prior gen machines to digest, the current consoles are cropping up similar issues, and lower end PC's suffer too.
Amazing how much more demanding and intensive games run just honky dory on my ol' Xbox1x, but not a game seven years old now.

my old gaming laptop had a 1660 ti and ran this game at 117 fps. However, over the course of a couple months the frames went down and I was left with 60.. on LOW. Maybe it’s the laptop or maybe it’s the game.. idk. It’s kind of a pain in the butt to need a beast of a pc to run this game well. I cant even imagine what the new temple of purgation or new map feels like for lower end pc or consoles.

It may be your NVIDIA settings.
- Open NVIDIA control panel, click on Manage 3D Settings. Next to Global Settings, click Program Settings next to it. Find "deadbydaylight.exe" in the drop-down.
- Now in the box below, find Max Frame Rate. Change it to the maximum frame rate of your PC or 120fps, it doesn't really matter.
- Next, find Preferred Refresh Rate. Change it to Highest Available.
- Find Vertical Sync. Make sure it is on Global Settings (Use 3D application...)
- Apply all these changes. Boot up DBD and see what happens. Good luck!
