Subtle cheaters make me paranoid and tired of playing DBD

Yes, I have to rant for a moment. No, this is no 'us vs them', no 'cats vs dogs' here.

I played the Doc yesterday between 9:00pm and 12:00am and encountered many strong survivors. So far so good. But unfortunately in 4 matches I noticed people who used a speedhack. I don't usually play killer at this time and I know the teams are a lot better at this time than when I'm playing at 5pm. The later in the evening, the better the survivors (at least in my experience). That's why I don't immediately think of cheaters when I'm rolled by the survivors. I mean I play the Doc without camping, tunneling, slugging and 3-gen. Hell, I even let the last survivor escape for free (if it comes to that). So I don't expect to get a 4k on decent teams either. However, after chasing two people in a row who each got a massive head start after disappearing around a corner or behind a wall, I became skeptical.

(Dear cheaters, after thousands of hours in DBD I know how many laps you can run around certain loops before I catch up with you.)

Later I played against a known Streamer + SWF from my country. I expected to be completely destroyed, but fortunately the match was very fair. Unlike the cheaters, the chases seemed short to me. At least bigger streamers don't cheat. That gave me some hope again.

But honestly folks, I'm not going to be playing a killer any more by this time. If the number of cheaters increases again in future matches, I will pause DBD again. Cheater and bad map design is still the biggest annoyance in DBD for me.

What are your experiences with cheaters these days?

Thx for listening and hav a nice day <3

P.s.: Before some Hans says I only accuse Survivor of cheating: No, I encounter the same problem with killers.

I seem to be lucky enough to get the cheaters who are blatantly obvious with their hacks. Last cheater I encountered was in the process of opening the exit gate a grand total of 10 seconds into the match. When I ran up to them they blipped out of existence.

The most common cheaters I see are the ones with hella movement speed, instablind from anywhere flashlights, instantly pick themselves back up, every perk in the game, minute long stun times, etc.

These are rather few and far between at least. Usually I'll see 1 every other month or so.

Last night I had someone unhook themself in the basement on their 2nd hook stage. That one was a bit more obvious. I don’t record my games but maybe I need to start. Although not sure it’s worth my time to go through the incredibly tedious reporting process that BHVR forces on when there is no guarantee that they will even do anything.

I have encountered a cheater only once. He was "flying" and easily avoided the killer in the chase. The Huntress opened the gates and asked us to report. The cheater confirmed having cheated - this was his only sentence in the endgame chat.

Obvious cheaters are annoying too, but I don't find them as bad as those who do it secretly. Last time I met one was at Coldwind Farm two weeks ago when I was playing Knight. He was sitting on the roof of the main building. Interestingly, my guards flew up to him. At least he ended the game quickly after realizing I was going afk.

The problem with subtle cheaters is that in many cases you probably don't even notice. I don't always want to think of cheaters when I'm outplayed. But when I really push myself to finish a chase and end up seeing my opponent cheat, it annoys me even more.

"Ignorance is bliss" probably applies to me when it comes to cheaters. Unless they're very obvious I don't realize people are cheating. There's some instances where I'm absolutely certain a killer is running X aura reading perk because they always seem to know exactly where survivors are and it turns out they have 0 aura reading perk or add-on, but even then I just think "they probably have good game sense and I'm not as unpredictable as I thought".

I remember reporting 2 cheaters, a Dwight who insta completed all gens and opened the gates and a Kate I could see TP thanks to Empathy. I think I also reported a few others but I don't remember them (and I'm still embarassed about my newbie self reporting a Freddy because I had no idea he could teleport...).

In any case I'm not good enough or/and don't pay attention enough to notice when something is off if it's subtle, I'm always mind blown when I see videos of people immediately noticing someone is like 1% too fast or something like that. On the bright side I don't feel like my gaming experience is ruined by cheaters because I simply don't notice them, but knowing I've probably encountered way more than I think I have and that they're subtle enough they're fooling the large majority of the playerbase sucks.

Unfortunately the reporting system takes too much time and I don't want to record every game. Even if people get banned, they just take the next account. Cheating should be prevented preventively. I wish DBD would offer a recording function for their games themselves, but that will probably remain a dream.

That's a fair statement. As you say, I think in most cases we probably don't even realize it, and that's kind of sad. But if killers always know exactly where you are without having aura reading or killer instincts then that's very suspicious. Ditto for survivors who suddenly disappear into nowhere and run 6 laps around the shack without you being able to catch them...

I totally understand you, the fear of encountering subtle cheaters added to the overall stress of playing killer.

I don't understand why bhvr doesn't change anticheat, it doesn't protect anything the anticheat that dbd has

Worst part is when they run perks (such as Boon: Dark Theory) that make you question if they were cheating or not...

I really wish there would be a solution to this at some point.

Yep, sometimes it's really hard to tell if it was the perks or if something else helped. That's why I'm always very careful with such accusations, because you often can't prove it. I mean killers with aura reading cheats are more noticeable, especially when u play with distortion.

With survivors, on the other hand, this is more difficult to recognize. Sometimes I have survivors who are very clumsy, but have always been able to perfectly predict where I'm going and never fall for a single mind game. That seems suspicious too, but I can never say for sure.

There are many players using hack in DbD.

Many killers abuse wallhack and speedhack.

They try to hide their wallhack with BBQ but then you see them finding you even though BBQ was not triggered.

And for speedhacks, with MFT you can spot them pretty easily, 1 turn around a tile and the killer is on your back, no way with MFT, it takes 4 to 5 turns.

Yeah some shady stuff is happening sometimes in the game. For example, the Killer knowing exactly in which locker you are in the middle of nowhere without him having one single aura perk (and being in the locker before BBQ could come into play).

Also, the most shady stuff happens always with PC gamers, making it more paranoid tbh. You can tell because they're having a name only on PC you can make them.

The most funny subtle cheater I encountered was a Renato with a year 6 flan. That's totally impossible haha.

Had a hill billy i was convinced was cheating earlier. He was whipping 180s and round corners during his chainsaw charges, i was expecting to see his purple turn speed addon in the post game, but he only had the speed engravings.

No way he should've been able to turn the way he did. And he seemed to always know where everyone was, homing in on ppl who'd been hiding in decent spots.
