MMR is just an absolute useless mechanic, how is it possible on my first ever match I get such an experienced team. How is that fun for killers? Join a match just to get completely destroyed

Had the same problem when trying to learn huntress and pin heid.

It's very difficult to learn a new killer as the mmr is set across the board instead of per killer.

My first game as huntress I couldn't hit a barn door from 2 feet let alone a survivor. I decided instead of going for survivors I practiced by aiming at a generator/rock etc to work out distances and timing.

You can practice with Plague by working on timing and aim. Practice spraying over an area, distance or concentrating on a specific item. Don't worry about hooks or kills in the beginning.

Stick with it as you will get better but it really sucks when playing a new killer.

I'm not sure about it, but I think that when you play a killer for first time you don't start in the lowest MMR. I think that you get squads with random MMR until you are "positioned" in your deserved MMR.

This is correct, and if you are at a certain MMR on one killer, you have a baseline MMR on others to separate you from newer players.

As already said, when you play a Killer for the first time you will not start at the lowest MMR. You will start at the average of all your other Killers and after a few games the MMR will be calculated somewhat correctly. (At least this is how it is supposed to work)

If you would start at lowest MMR with a new Killer, two things would happen:

    • You would only get Baby Survivors and those will be destroyed. If your Killer is a regular 4.6-Killer you will not even need your power to destroy the Survivor Teams you will face. That you play a Killer for the first time does not mean that you forgot how the game works.
    • Queue times would be a mess when a new Killer is released. Since then every player of this Killer would be at the same (lowest) MMR. So imagine Thousands of Killer players queueing up at the same time with lowest MMR. You will probably have to wait for at least 10 minutes for each game, possibly even way more.

It makes totally sense that you dont start at lowest MMR with a new Killer.

Yeah, but think about how fast your queue times are! You can have 3 predetermined cutscene games instead of 1 or 2 fun and engaging matches. Quantity over quality baby!

Which is one reason addition of custom bot matches was needed. Now you can test drive killers with unique powers away from public matches.

Plus, a new killer may have a new power but the core DbD mechanics you already know when you pick a new character. Map knowledge can already help tremendously.

Theres 2 levels to killer MMR, your general killer MMR, and MMR with a specific killer. If you're a really good nurse, and you switch to, say, clown, some of that MMR is still in effect, though most of it is gone.
