Would it be a good idea for EMPs to function more like flashlights?
A big complaint with the EMPs that I've heard (and experienced) over and over is that they're just really easy to use. Essentially just holding a button will instantly eliminate anything the killer has done in a massive area. No aiming, positioning, or effort required. So little effort in fact that people can easily use them in the middle of a chase and destroy any chance the singularity had in that area.
I will say as always, complaining about a problem is useless if you can't offer a proper solution.
Now, it should NOT be a difficult task to remove your own slipstream, ESPECIALLY in chase. So I'll note that for this rework idea the emp would still always remove your own slipstream upon use, however, using it mid chase would almost always result in it removing only your slipstream and nothing else.
The idea here is that rather than a sphere, the emp would have a large cone as it's AOE (with the same forward range as the current diameter, just all in front of the survivor.) Outside of this change in AOE it would function exactly the same. Because of this you could still disable multiple biopods and slipstreams at the same time, it would just require more positioning and planning since they would all have to line up in front of you.
With this change, the singularity could be countered by EMPs just as much as it is right now, under 2 circumstances: 1- the killer player has bad placements and positioning, or 2- the survivor players have skillful thinking and positioning. These two scenarios being the only ones where something should be countered so incredibly hard lol. If anyone has any thoughts on other ideas I would love to hear them, I just think the EMPs current state is horrid.
TL:DR- If EMPs had a cone like a flashlight rather than an orb, it would take more skill and positioning while not nerfing their full potential.
