Why are servers so bad now?

My ping continues to go ridiculously high for absolutely no reason. My connection is fine, and I know I'm not the only one this is happening to. The game is just unplayable for me now.

    Probably just because of how many people are playing. If you check the steam charts, the number of players is much much higher than its been for the entire year from the busiest being ~70,000 to now being ~87,000. That's about a 25% increase and that's just on steam.

    I'm not experiencing any issues these days. I'm based in Central-Europe.

    Ya its weird, I play NA and my servers lag all the time but when I play with my friend who is in Asia servers it rarely lags even though says I only have one bar.

    The servers are bad for a while now. A different thread guessed that the tick rate was reduced for everyone. that's why player locations not always is in sync between players. especially with high mobility killers this is a problem.
