Gen Speed
So I've just came back from a 2 week holiday and I can't comprehend how fast gens are going now. I very rarely complain about anything in this game, but I'm honestly confused about the gen speed now? I run lethal pursuer on most killers and down within the first 30 secs to a minute or so and I'm constantly getting at least 2 gens popping before I can even stack any pressure. Not sure what's changed but it really doesn't feel good .

Thats always been the case. Game is also no where near over at 2 gens completed

Gen speed is just plain silly now. Anyone who argues otherwise is a survivor only player period.
If I run deja vu and prove thyself and a couple join the killer doesn't have time to even reach the gen most of the time let alone defend it.
No the game isn't over when 2 gens pop against a bad team. Against a good swf though it's just laughable.

Few killers can stop the first couple of gens from being completed, not without cooperation from the survs at least. And as Shroompy said there's plenty of game left even after three pop, often even all five.
Always believe it can be done, you can kill them all. Certainly not every trial, but it can be done. By any killer. On any map. With any rng. Against any foe.
Even with my beloved Amanda Panda.

BHVR didn't left much room for more as sitting on a gen.
as soloQ player you can't help a teammate in a chase (unless he is on deadhook) because DH was gutted and healing was gutted. so all you can do is jump from gen to gen. chests are only interesting if you looking for a heal. hex totem are dead (ruin needs a buff!).
basicly a survivor has currently three states
- sit on a gen or be on the way to a gen
- be in chase
- go for unhook
additional survivors had to get better in looping with every mayor patch since 6.1.0.
that put a lot of pressure on players on both sides and i don't think this is healthy. both parties need a secondary objective, that is not tied to the other side to relieve pressure.

The anniversary event is on and survivors have to get the exit gates open to claim the exclusive cosmetics. I play solo and gen rushing never happens in my games, people just stand around doing nothing most of the time. But they're actually smashing gens these past couple days. Everyone wants the cosmetics.

Yeah but when you lose 3 gens by the time you get your first hook it forces you to play in a more boring way if you want to have a chance at getting more than 2 kills.

At this point it’s to be expected that by your first down at least one gen is finished or about to pop.
Sometimes 2-3 can pop before your first down. This is still winnable in most cases. The final 2 gens is where most of the action happens.
What I’ve personally found to be the most useful is to stop using regression (at most just 1 is enough) and rely on tracking and chase oriented perks to help build up pressure. If you can reliably get downs fast, eventually the gens will slow enough for you to secure a kill. And if you managed to get a kill before the last gens pops, you’re almost guaranteed to secure a second if played right.
It’s can be hard, especially on maps like Garden or Borgo, but if you know how to build pressure and down efficiently you can still 4K.

I think a lot of killers freak out when they see 2-3 gens pop pretty quick, but with 2 gens plus EGC you have options on pressure. Most of the time survivors slip up and try to bombard the last gens resulting in multiple downs. My number one tip I believe killers really need to learn is not to get lured away by a better survivor resulting in the others just powering the gens.
4K's are nice and we all love them but sometimes it's just not possible.

Its still very much possible to do so without playing in a boring way, in fact just focusing on 1 Survivor after 2 or 3 gens pop just guarantees your loss further becuase they would still have access to at least half of the maps resources (whcih are across the map from the remaining gens if the survivor running is smart) and now you have 3 survivors that you're leaving alone to do 2 remaining gens. I have seen so many games where a killer would of still very much had a chance, but they think they HAVE to tunnel to be able to turn the game around. And that is so far away from the truth, but its such a common misconception that I'm not even going to try

Yeah, it's interesting to me how killers panic and think the game is over when a couple gens pop early. As a solo survivor main, it means nothing to me when we get a couple gens done in the first chase. Because that first hook is when the game changes. One person on hook, one going for unhook/heal, one now in chase, and only one left to sit on gens. And that's if everyone is playing their role perfectly, and they're usually not.
I've seen countless games end in a 4k despite 2-3 gens popping early. It means nothing to me, I don't even see it as an accomplishment and I definitely don't see it as a guaranteed win. Tunnelling the unhooked person who led you on such a great first chase to begin with? That usually gives us a better chance. Now the other 3 of us have nothing else to do but gens.

I mean against efficient survivors that's legit all you can do. Using bad survivors as an example is just a bad example. Like sure you can still do well with a top 5 killer but the rest? Not so much.

It does feel like Gen speeds are fast... but there are 2 reasons
1) Gen regression is non-existent... and Base Gen regression is so low... Call Of Brine was what Base Gen regression should be
2) Survivors only need 2-3 on Gens with 1-2 Survivors either in chase or clearing Totems
1.0-2.2 charges per second for Survivors and Great skillchecks... turning 90 seconds (charge) Gens into 30-45 second Gens

No, it isnt. It works for top tiers since they have a reliable way to get downs paired with good mobility which most anti tunneling methods cant do much about.
And if you use tourneys as an example it ain't a good one. They play for points and tunneling is without a doubt the safest way to secure points.

Its not even comp level survivors. People that have a brain and know how to play against a killers power just make it very unreliable to play in a nice way if they also want to win.

Oh no even good players using lower tier killers just suffer against any squad that can be efficient if the killer wants to play nice and not use some super strong addon.

Gen speeds are pretty okay. I'd maybe change the maximum and minimum speeds, but that's it.
Sincerely, a killer main.

What you can achieve right now in terms of completion speed is pretty nutty along side all the interconnected defense. Possible gen speed ought to have a cap. Some matches are so short there's barely any gameplay unless you hold a 3 gen.

I think the games in a horrible state. 2018 - 2020 was peak.
Usually I play nonstop during these events, I cant really be bothered.
The devs are doing me a favour though, I spent $800 on auric cells in 2017-2020, and I havent bought any since 2021.
I cant wait for that TCM game.

Can't be restated enough ^

just tunnel the first survivor out as fast as possible
proxy camp the 2nd survivor but dont tunnel them, just go for whoever is injured
rinse and repeat the second step
if you don't get at least a 3k (considering hatch) then they were clearly better than you

Most survivors spawn in corners right near gens, often with at least 1 other person (sometimes 2). It's easy when they all swarm to the gen and finish quick before the killer can make it across the map or while they're busy setting traps/harassing other gens.
It's also how the 3-gen strategy begins, which is why I always slip to the middle gens first, if possible; and why I'm usually the first one on hook!

Oh Im well aware of that, doesnt mean what some refer to as 'playing mean' is always the best option.
