Rejoin a match

Other competitive games have the ability to rejoin a game in progress if say your pc or console crashes, why not this one? I can't see a reasonable explanation why, sure you csn say it's unfair to either side but isn't that still better than just canceling the match and forcing the penalty?

    It's unfair to either side.

Except when a killer dc's. If something like this was implemented, survivor would have to get automatically hooked or something, since "tactically dc'ing" could become an issue.

The devs are already planning to let bots take over for DC'ed survivors. So a survivor would not be taken out of the game by DC anymore, but replaced by a bot. This would then also allow to implement such a rejoin feature. So when you are back into the game (after a crash), you could take your place from the bot again.

As long as your previous game is still running, you would only be able to reconnect to that game, but you would not be able to queue for a new one. This would punish first down DCs way more than than late DCs. Maybe there could be an additional penalty once the game is over, but you did not finish it.

Last but not least, with bots taking over, and the original player opting out of the game somehow, the devs could also implement player backfill, so that a different player takes over the bot position. Only the player finishing the game would get the collected BP, with maybe some small additional incentive for backfill players (something like getting 10k-15k BP just for joining into a running match and playing it till the end).
