Why is EMP a thing ?

Hey there everyone,

it has been quite a while since I was really active in DBD. I think last time I played actively was before Dredge was released.

About a week ago I felt like catching up with DBD and realized I missed quite a lot.

The latest chapter seemed interesting until I found Singularity to be way too complex for the reward.

You need to place your cameras so you can POTENTIALLY mark a survivor just so you can then teleport via said cameras or direct hit granting a temporary buffed state allowing you to POTENTIALLY get a hit.

Multiple mechanics/steps for a potential hit?

I can just take Bubba and instabreak pallets or instadown people without any steps in between.

As if it weren't bad enough that you have to do way too much for a mere hit but then they can just delete your power with EMP as well.

That detail kind of seems weird to me. Just why? Why add the option to delete the killer's power?

Because Slipstream is FAR too powerful to just be an effect that you can't get rid of.

He's a complex Killer, but once you understand the EMP economy and how Singularity is stronger at the start of the match, it gets pretty easy and fun.

EMPs were way worse on the PTB. They’ve been nerfed a ton and they’re fine now. Survivors slow themselves down when using an EMP and they also don’t have access to them as much as before.

I don't know guys... I know I'm a little rusty as killer since I really haven't played in ages but his power feels so wrong.

Last night I played a couple matches and got lucky enough to face a team of tbagging clicky clicky people who I managed to beat but I really only started dominating when I stopped trying to mark them with the pods and stared slugging as a regular M1 killer.

(Almost) everytime I tried to mark them they'd find any tiny object to break line of sight JUST in time.

It seems like it takes a whole lot of luck, an open map and mediocre survivors just to get a lot of markings on them so I can finally start teleporting.

Playing as a regular no power M1 killer felt more effective really.

I will be practicing his power more, though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention when I finally managed to mark them they just deleted my power with the EMPs. Made the power feel like a waste of time. That's about when I started slugging as a M1 no power killer.
