David king cosmetics
How come David king hasn't gotten any cosmetics since he was revealed as gay other than his rift cosmetic? it has been over a year and he didn't even get a cosmetic for pride, not even his basic jacket with a pride pin on it. ever since he was revealed as gay it seems like he was ignored and left in the bin with elodie, haddie, adam, and jonah.

I’m gonna say a few things. My name is David and I’m gay so I can kinda relate to David King. He’s actually in my top 5 favorite survivors but I loved him even before the reveal.
Would I like to see more cosmetics for him? Absolutely. But, there are A LOT of survivors I’d like to see get more cosmetics. Ideally, all of them would be getting new cosmetics regularly but this isn’t an ideal world we are living in so I’d focus on those with less to choose from first. David, however, has a lot to choose from compared to some others.
Do I want to see pride themed cosmetics outside of charms? Absolutely! It was something I’ve been thinking about lately - t-shirts, tank tops, hats, full outfits! But do I want them to single out David for such a thing? No…. Not really, because while I think it’s important to give characters cosmetics that speak to who they are you do have to be careful about making them into - as others have said - the “token” character. I think, like charms, they could be available for all survivors so that not matter who you are as a player you can express yourself through any character you love, and pride is about sharing the love meaning you don’t have to be part of our spectrum to show your support and celebrate with us.
Do I think David’s lack of recent cosmetics has anything to do with him being gay? No. Not at all. There are plenty of characters that need some more love and I believe they’ll get it with time and patience. I do believe BHVR is living up to their support of this community. Never within a gaming community have I felt so accepted and normalized - I know crappy people DO exist here but they exist everywhere. For the most part all I’ve seen was love and acceptance and I am forever grateful for it.

Giving David pride themed cosmetics during pride month would basically just turn him into the token gay character. As far as why not anything else I don't know. How marketable is David King?

Well by BHVR's own admission he was one of their most popular male survivors. Then they just stopped.

Bill could do with some.

bill is licensed, so his lack of cosmetics is on valves part.

It means they just can't sell them. They can however give them away.

I see David often. I just don't know how much people who play him are willing to buy his cosmetics. Usually when I see David he has his default skin on so it may be just newer players playing him to grind out shards to buy other characters.

I think it'd be worse if they only gave him a cosmetic every time pride month comes around tbh. It would give big "token character we don't care about the rest of the year" energy.
I assume he didn't get anything because he dropped in popularity, but I wish that wasn't the case because I am so tired of the same six survivors being featured in every collection. I love Feng Min but I've stopped buying her cosmetics over a year ago because she's got more than enough and there's no point buying stuff I'm barely gonna use.
And tbh the existing cosmetics for David aren't great. I don't like any of his head cosmetics besides the default one and its blond recolor (which was also free i think). Hopefully he gets some good stuff this year.

The Valentines and Lifeguard ones are solid but outside of that his headpieces are pretty awful
1 -
yea, his head cosmetics are pretty ######### and i think ever since they revealed him as gay people stopped playing him, and if he isn't played he doesn't get cosmetics, unlike feng who is very popular and gets tons of cosmetics.

People aren't playing him because he's not getting new cosmetics. He was already popular on the men side. But if you not gonna keep giving him cosmetics while other popular survivors are getting skins, and the other men are getting shirtless skins recently, then he wont be played as often.
What they are doing to david honestly disappoints me. And if they are gonna do this to newly revealed lgbt characters then i rather them not reveal anymore lgbt characters. Because they will ignore them even though they claim they do care. But in reality they dont

Besides, david isnt being played as much because he isnt getting new skins while other men survivors are getting new shirtless skins. So of course his pickrate will go down

I feel like David got nudged out by Vittorio. Everyone went from shirtless David to shirtless Vittorio

Wellp some characters did not even have a skin since trillions and they didnt positionate

Im not gonna lie but I imagine david in rainbow colours for the pride month and hell that would be the first to die (not cuz homophobics that would focus him ) also cuz its like a light in the darkness for killers, usually players prefer dark cosmetics.

It's not really surprising, David doesn't have cool glowing arcane symbols and text as tattoos on his body like Vittorio does.

He was pretty popular tho. Actually i am still seeing him more than most characters. But even rarest survivors got some costumes while David got nothing.

I hardly see David’s in lobby, and if I do they are usually very inexperienced players.
I see vittorio at a much higher rate than any other male character.
0 -
Exsctly. Bhvr gave him la homosexuality and then dropped him even though he's still played quite a bit (a lot more than some other characters like Jeff, Adam, or the Lyra siblings).
0 -
I see all three of those characters more than I see David to be honest.
I’m not saying David shouldn’t get cosmetics, all characters should get cool cosmetics. I just really don’t see David hardly at all. I saw an increase of him during the last month, but that has since decreased.

Regardless. The reason you're not seeing davids as much as jeffs, and even adams right now is because they recently have been getting new cosmetics. And that makes me believe that if they dont consistently give skins to characters just like feng, meg, etc then they wont be player as often. Simple as that.
Im a p100 david main and i havent been playing him often because he hasnt gotten many skins lately

I think cosmetics are made based on character popularity, and good cosmetics bring even more popularity. Fend and Nea have some high quality “sweaty” cosmetics, and you see a ton of both of those characters.
0 -
Well yea i do agree with that. But it does suck when bhvr claim to have increased their production of cosmetics by hiring more art designers in order to give even the less played characters something, only to still give most new skins to the same popular characters everytime.
0 -
I understand that. I wish for some more cosmetics for Blight.
0 -
And then there’s Trickster who no one plays but still receives a ######### ton of skins for some reason.
0 -
Yea I haven’t had a trickster in awhile. Maybe he’s played more frequently in a different MMR range?
0 -
Yeah maybe. Or maybe he’s more popular in other parts of the world.
Or it could just be because he’s easy to make cosmetics for haha
0 -
Maybe it’s because people tend to buy the flashy neon color cosmetics (ie feng and nea), and with tricksters MO, it makes his cosmetics marketable.
Who knows, we could all be wrong lol.

You are judging Trickster's popularity on your zone and mmr. He can be more popular on different server and mmr. Like devs said Self-Care is more popular in Asia servers when they nerfed it.
1 -
Yea this is what I figured. Trickster is Japanese isn’t he? I’m sure he’s an extremely popular killer on their servers / zones.
0 -
He is Korean. But Asian characters are popular in all Asia countries tho. Feng is from China but i know she is one of the most popular survivors in Japan.
0 -
Yeah in Australia he’s pretty no existent but maybe it’s different elsewhere.
I did find the pick rates BHVR gave out last year and his pick rate is 16th overall and bottom 4 at high mmr. Maybe his player base is just happy spending money on him compared to other killers.
1 -
Yeah, and then he got competition
LOTS of competition

And who set that system up

Im hearing david may not even get new skins during midchapter. Im just gonna call it like it is. They say they care. But there actions says otherwise.
0 -
This is completely unfair criticism. They have given more focus to the lgbt community than any gaming company I know of. You have 16 pride themed charms in the game. How can you say their actions say otherwise? Do you want the entire game to just turn into one big bull horn for LGBT activism? They still have to market this game and make money from it. If the data shows David King is trending within the game I'm sure you'll see more cosmetics for him.
2 -
Get over yourself dude. They do way more than any other company I’ve seen just as Kate said.

All of the LGBTQIA Characters in Apex Legends - Gayming Magazine
have to say, you didn't look particularly hard.
1 -
Didn't know there was a contest on who has the most LGBTQ characters
3 -
I wasn't talking about just characters. I also said that I know of. I've never played Apex Legends. Its still disingenuous to say they don't care in light of everything they have done.
Exactly this. The point always goes over people's heads.

Why should David get a pride cosmetic alone? Just because he's confirmed gay? That totally doesn't shoehorn him into a token character, not at all...
Was he ignored? I wouldn't say completely, since he got a skin for the Winter event last year. So, half a year tops.
I don't see the point in trying to call out something that isn't there, when BHVR gave us a pretty wide selection of Pride charms everyone can use to express their own identities. David will get a new skin whenever he's played more frequently. His sexuality shouldn't even be considered as far as why he's not getting anything.
1 -
You definitely havent see much then i guess

it's not a competition bro, they've done their part leave them alone.
4 -
While I don't agree with accusing bhvr of anything, just because representation is done an x amount doesn't mean that there can't be more
0 -
Absolutely not. Im free just as many others have voiced their concerns over haddie not getting much, to voice my opinions without throwing insult etc.
0 -
You can give your opinion without being insulting, which you were when you said they don't care. Why would they even bother doing all of the things they have done for the lgbt community if they didn't care? They didn't have to do any of this. They could've just continued the game as it was before they started lgbt representation in the game and none of this would have ever been an issue. After all they have done I just find it hard to believe that anyone could think they don't have at least some genuine care for these things.
2 -
Wow, if you believe its scornful abuse to say their best aint good enough in the cosmetic department then thats on you. And you're misunderstanding my words because this isnt just about what they do for the lgbt community. This is an issue that goes to other characters like elodie, jake, and used to be haddie. About them neglecting characters over a long period of time without new skins. But then again, as your name suggest it, im not surprised that you dont see that since your main continues to get things but you dont care for other playerbases being neglected without anything as well.
0 -
I see this far more clearly than you do. I am not speaking from any bias either. When you say things like "but you don't care for other playerbases being neglected" it shares the same sentiment as what you said about the devs concerning cosmetics for David and further proves the things I said in response to it. These are things you think or want to be true because you refuse to listen to what other people have told you about this. This has nothing to do with what I care about or how much an individual person likes any given character in the game. This has to do with what is marketable and will turn a profit for the work put into it. You're looking at it from a personal perspective. The company looks at it from a business perspective. To imply they are doing something wrong or don't care about something by neglecting a character you personally like is unfair and selfish. These characters were made to make money for the company. The devs are under no obligation to devote time, money and effort into anything that isn't worth it. There is no wrong in that.
