unable to play dbd on ubuntu 22.04.2

How i get the error-
Step 1: Open steam
Step 2: go to dbd in my library
Step 3: click play
Result: error code 600 "game files validation failed"
Things ive tried-
reinstalling dbd
validating files multiple times
moveing dbd to an external hardrive
unsure where to find the crash logs since im on linux so they are not attached but i will attach the resulting popups when it fails
