Just started again - Getting Dunked on :O

Hey Guys,

I started playing Dbd a bit over 5 years ago, but haven't played it much for ~3 years. I just started again this week because I forgot how much fun this game was. However, I've played about 30 matches and haven't escaped a single time. Constantly scoring over 20k points, but I only play pub 4s and it just feels like it is impossible to seal the deal.

Does anyone know how they have been balancing this game? Like do they balance it to be playable as pub 4s or is it balanced for just for hyper co-ordinated 4 stacks.

I remeber when I started playing and it felt like a lot of random pub 4s and I met a lot of people through just playing the game and adding them on steam, and we still play Hunt and other games together. It feels like a very different, much more 'competative' (i guess is the word i'm looking for) landscape. Not like the suspenseful cinematic horror that I remembered it being.

Just looking for thoughts from anyone that has kept a finger on the pulse and played back when I started.

Yes competitive is the word to use.

It's fully comp now. You'll get killers that slug at five gens, you'll get killers that camp (luckily the anti-camping feature is coming soon), you'll get killers that tunnel relentlessly at five gens while the only helpful perk against that got nerfed to the ground (decisive strike), etc.

When you play killer, you'll usually get gen-rushed and have to witness a dance competition at the exit gates after trying to play fair.

Also, matchmaking is absolutely terrible, it's the worst system I've ever witnessed and I've played loads of multiplayer games. Solo queue games are disastrous and the only thing that keeps me playing is just one game with survivors that know what they are doing every so often.

(luckily the anti-camping feature is coming soon)

    😂

It's not going to stop a camper, it's not going to stop them from downing you and putting you back on the hook.

The only point of it is to keep players from killing themselves on hook.

The only other matchmaking that can rival DBD's is probably niche fighting games. Where not only do you have to wait 10+ minutes (in SC6 I had to wait over 30 mins) and still get matched with someone who has played the game for a couple of years.

You can literally unhook yourself on second hook...

I'd rather unhook myself and get tunneled instead of sitting on the hook and watching my team all crowd around the hook instead of doing generators. Also, you won't be able to hook grab which is great.

I'm pretty sure you'll still be able to take the 4% though so yeah you'll still be able to die on hook.

I get matched with survivors that have 1/6 the hours I have on PC and that's not even counting the hours on console...

Yeah I know 1st, 2nd, but if the killer is right there you're not going anywhere. Unless there's the base kit BT and speed boost you're jumping right into the killers arms and going down.

Hook grabs or whatever. If the killer plays it cool they can maybe injury all and get a down.

I'd rather unhook myself and get tunneled instead of sitting on the hook and watching my team all crowd around the hook instead of doing generators.

This is exactly my point to keep you in the match with a team not doing anything getting camped at 5 gens instead of moving on to the next one.

I don't know maybe I'm not seeing something.

There'll definitely be BT basekit. Would be silly if there wasn't when the killer is literally camping lol. BT just doesn't work on Pyramid Head's cages of atonement. Most they can get is a single down (hit early, they unhook, and then down them right after). You'll be able to take your chances, the camping progress won't be fast enough to prevent that.

The sad truth is that while DBD should be viewed as a party game, it's sadly treated far more competitively than it has any right to be (we have freaking Nicholas Cage in the game for crying out loud! LOL). But solo queue is the worst. If you're not playing with other people on mics, then you're at the mercy of a random team, and sadly random people can prove to be the worst teammates since a lot of the times they will have their own agenda.

It's their game and they can play it how they want, but not playing as a team makes it very frustrating.

All they have to do is wait out the BT.

I still just see it as keeping players in the match that would in other words give up on hook.

    But, that's just me

It's possible to escape in solo queue, but you have to keep in mind that at least half of the killers you encounter are going to play like a $10k prize is on the line. You have to play sweaty to give yourself a chance against a killer running Iri+Purple add ons and multiple slowdowns. Nothing really wrong with that either. It wouldn't be balanced at all if everyone could compete against anyone at all times with zero context. But I do think the matchmaking system has massive flaws and favors queue times over quality to an alarming degree.

You're going to get matched with people who've been playing SC6 for a couple of years because that game has been out for a long time now and isn't actively supported or advertised. Hardly any new blood is coming into the SC community at the moment as most of us have moved over to active games like Tekken, MK, and Street Fighter or went back to older SC titles.

The game is just rigged against you in solo queue. You're meant to lose in order to drive the kill rates up. Even former comp DBD streamers like Ayrun acknowledged how they can't escape in solo queue and had to start SWFing to have a chance. Solo queue is just a miserable experience and you can't do anything to change it.
