Skull merchant changes from a skull merchant player

Okay so since one of (if not) the best team in the world got held hostage for 50 minutes, I thought id pitch in a few changes so ya know, that doesn't remain possible.

  • Reduced unhackable drone duration to 5s (which also reduces active mode to 25s)
  • Increased claw trap duration to 60 seconds
  • Reduced exposed duration to 30 seconds

These would nerf her on indoor maps, by making drones disable quicker and by making exposed less threatening. Moreover it would be easier to break a 3 gen against her due to the much longer cooldown on drones and lower unhackable time.

Though, she would need some buffs in chase.

  • Survivors entering the active zone suffer 5% hindered for 3 seconds
  • For the number of tracked survivors, gain the following:
  • 1: 4% haste, +8% action speed bonus
  • 2: 6%, +12%
  • 3: 8%, +16%
  • 4: 10%, +20%

This would make skull merchants utilise the haste and action speed gained from drones into chasing a survivor and downing them fast. Kinda like a hybrid hag playstyle.

While we're talking about her, she should gain some quality of life changes to make her feel nicer to play.

  • Reduced minimum drone distance from other drones to 22m
  • Reduced minimum drone distance from hooked survivors to 12m
  • The skull merchant can see the depletion progress of claw traps on the UI

This would solve some issues newer smerchants have with placing drones.

Finally, her most problematic part is her 3 gen add ons such as shotgun speakers, brown noise, and remote mic. They just need to be nuked from orbit. Others need to be changed to account for the base kit changes, and others because they are quite weak.

  • Floodlight: Reworked: Survivors who hack a drone have their aura revealed for 6s
  • Adi valentine: Reworked: Increases movement speed while looking at your radar by 2%
  • Supercharge: Reworked: Putting a survivor into the dying state no longer removes their claw trap, hooking them does
  • Remote mic: Reworked: Increases scouting mode drone spin speed by 20%
  • Shotgun speakers: Reworked: Survivors entering an active zone become deafened for 4s, cooldown of 20s for each individual survivor
  • Low power mode: Buffed to 20%
  • Powdered glass: Reworked: A survivor fast vaulting a pallet will no longer have their claw trap destroyed, but the pallet will still break
  • Infrared: Buffed to 6 seconds
  • Brown noise: Removed lingering effect
  • Rotor: Reworked: Reduces drone initialisation time by 0.5s
  • Geo readout: Removed lingering effect, nerfed action speed bonus to 4%
  • Iri manuscript: Removed downside
  • Batteries: Buffed to 100%, no longer start the trial with drones in hand

    I mean they're already working on fixing 3 genning from across the board, so changing the killer too seems needless.

    She's flawed to the point that since her chase is so weak, she's incentivised to 3 gen. This is only counteracted by her chase add ons, geo readout and strobed. By nerfing her 3 gen and buffing her chase it moves her away from boring playstyles and into utilising haste in chase.

    If she never gets any more changes shes just gonna be forever incentivised to play boring, which obviously isnt good.

    I mean we can buff her haste from hacked drones sure, however like i said, 3 genning is getting fixed across the board for all killers, so trying to fix something that's already getting fixed seems needless unless the aim is to just change her into an entirely different killer altogether.

    None of these changes would fix her ability to 3-gen. All she has to do is down the person with a trap with her massive speedboost to recover the drone and go back to camp the 3-gen. She needs her power scrapped and redesigned.

    This seems fine to me.

    Better counterplay, less punishing ignoring drones (exposed duration) while also better in chase for more playstyles.

    Then you loop her so she doesnt get her power back quickly. Rewards survivors for looping her and rewards the killer for getting quick downs which is the literal definition of decent power design isnt it?

    problem is that that survivor will not pick arm-traps until they are forced to pick arm-traps. that is why you are technically forced to 3 gen on skull merchant because you get no power until the survivor is forced to interact with the drones. survivors are forcing 3 gen and skull merchant player is complying with their 3 gen request.

    Since you weakened geo read out and put strobes base-kit, skull merchant is weaker because geo readout is unconditional bonus where as arm-traps are conditional bonus. 3 gen merchant is incentives more since base-kit chase is weaker but 3 gen skull merchant chase stays the same or is even better potentially.

    Personally I'd remove the exposed effect completely and have anyone inside the range have basekit oblivious, maybe even blindness as well and have the addons extend the time it effects you outside the radius. She's pretty good as a stealth killer if you build her like so anyway, and when I play her I don't even bother with the exposed effect unless I trap them in a corner.

    The killer is so broken by design, that the only thing to do about her is give her the OG Freddy treatment.

    Just nuke her and do her all over again
