Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Can We Please Change the Pip System?

Personally I am so tired of the pip system. I have been taking notes of how many matches I have played of both sides since rank reset alongside kill rates and pick rates of killers. This partially started because I was getting bored of the game and was interested in the stats of both the killers I faced and the killers I play. This came with the side effect of seeing how many matches I'm playing with both sides and it just reminds me how stupid the pip system is. I have been stuck at Gold 1 for Survivor for the past several days and I'm at Iridescent 4 for killer, almost Iridescent 3. I decided that I was going to actually look at how many matches I had played for both sides so far on my spreadsheet showing the kill and pick rates of the killers I face and killers I actually choose and it was really shocking.

Since rank reset I have played 147 survivor matches and 93 killer matches. So can someone explain to me why, since your grade is supposed to represent play time (supposedly) now, how is it that I've played over 50 more survivor matches than killer and will be rewarded on the next rank reset MORE for my killer matches than my survivor matches? Part of this I know is that depipping STILL FOR WHATEVER REASON EXISTS. Over the last few days I've been tunneled a lot and I mean hard tunneled. I will get 1-3 pips then have the next 4-5 games be depips from being tunneled out. The idea of depips is a thing of the past and needs to go. It would also feel so much better if instead of emblems, whether you get 0, 1, or 2 pips wasn't based on a really bad emblem system, but based on something else like either going back to bloodpoints from ages ago or maybe even time in a match. Although I personally think bloodpoints is kind of better because then you aren't getting rewarded for sitting in a corner doing nothing all game or drawing the game out in the exit gates like back when iri shards were based on play time.

I just feel like if we're going to be told that the grades are based on how much we're playing a side, then the side where I have 50 more matches logged so far this month should probably be the side that I'm getting a higher reward, assuming I'm not Iri 1 on both sides at which point it would be the same.

grade represents time cause they stopped being the rank. eventually everyone can climb it. that is all.

it has always been easier to climb as killer, since you are often engaged in more than one category that will get you pips. while survivors usually do one at a time.

They just need to do away with de-pips outside of DCs. There's no reason why you should move backwards on a system that is purely for your own personal progress. They can make it tougher to gain pips in return, just remove the frustration of de-pipping.

Don't DC, it's that simple. Net issue DCs is kinda different. You don't always lose pips from those kind of DCs

Depipping needs to be removed. A lot of the time you depip simply because of things out of your control (anything ranging from teammates DCing to you getting tunnelled all game leading to only getting points in chase). If you do not play well...you do not pip, it is as simply as that. I have also noticed people play more aggressively as killer so they pip. Removing depipping would make plenty of people play more relaxed.

I don't think you understood me at all.

You can de-pip without DCing. I'm saying the only time you should de-pip is when you DC.

I have made so many posts about this topic, but BHVR is rather adamant about this archaic practise. De-pipping served its purpose back in the day, but nowadays it might be one of the leading reasons behind the sweaty games we see. At one point I would race hardcore to the top and one time made it to Iri1 in 6 days or something, and this was awesome, because it allowed me to play the rest of the month anyway I liked; sweat or no sweat and freely giving hatch to whomever I liked.

Many people say its just a representation of your playtime, yet they defend de-pipping. Right now you need 90-something pips to go from Ash4 to Iri1; so easy solution would be to increase the pips a bit, say 150 or even 200, who cares, and make all games safety pips unless you DC. This way you just need your 200 or whatever good games a month to reach Iri1, but you are under no pressure. Right now, when I am at 4 pips, I will not give the cutest of survivors hatch, no matter how much I want. Why? Because I got burned SO often by the system. I was at 4 pips, a cute survivor wriggles and begs me not to kill them, I show mercy and let them out, and this leaves me a silver Devotion emblem with just one more needed to go to gold and the very next 3 games are against seal team 6s and I lose 3 pips with hardly anything I could do.

So now I hardly ever show mercy to survivors, unless I just pipped up or I miraculously managed to get to Iri1. Doing away with de-pipping would allow everyone to play anyway they liked. Just do it, BHVR, you are not making the game anymore fun or engaging by keeping de-pipping alive.

yeah, depipping should be a thing of the past. so many matches as survivor i've lost pips because of a cheeky basement camping bubba or something similar (whether i was on the hook or i was on the gens). it just feels like garbage knowing that you get punished for things truly out of your control. at least it's just for a bp boost on the 13th, but still... it still sucks. i find it harder than ever to get to iri grade again without playing with friends.

I'm able to comfortably get to iri 4 as solo survivor every month, but I find iri 4 to 1 a bit of a slog. I only ever depip when I get tunnelled, as I don't get the chance to do anything outside of chase. So I support getting rid of depipping outside of DCs. Ultimately, its just bloodpoints at the end of the day and it's not like it's real money is coming out of the devs pockets here.
